In our season ending Rainbow Acres Golf tournament, the wind would
not let up! Despite the cold and windy morning, 18 brave souls battled the
elements to compete. As luck would have it, Jerry and Linda Taylor were
partners for the fi rst time ever and teamed up for the best round of the
day. They fi red a 37 while Merlyn King and Dean Harrington were in close
pursuit with a 39. Third and fourth place was shared by Bob Carrington &
Harvey Gibson and Russ Leininger & Hoot Gibson with scores of 41. Two
teams shot 42 in the wind and cold; Dean Linden & Pete Lilly and Jim
Mathews & Bud Key.
There were a number of holes-in-one. Jerry Taylor aced hole #1 while
#17 was aced by Merlyn King, Bob Carrington and Bud Key. On hole # 8,
Harvey Gibson was closest to the pin and Merlyn King had the honors on
hole #9. In our long drive competition on hole #13 Bob Carrington won
for men, Linda Taylor for women, and Harvey Gibson for seniors.
Even though this is our fi nal tournament, we hope to see many of you on
the links! Thanks for the great memories running this tournament for the
past 5 years.
