Nebraska Chapter participated in Totally Baldacious this fall, which supports the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. FarmHouse's intramural soccer team was crowned champions this fall. NEBRASKA CHAPTER 5 I hope this letter finds you well as a new year begins. Last semester, the Nebraska Chapter of FarmHouse Fraternity welcomed 86 men back to the intersection of Apple and Idylwild. I'd like to share our chapter's most recent efforts to be leaders in faith, scholarship, and service through a truly unique brotherhood. Summer Recruitment and Conclave In early August, 10 members joined a strong showing of alumni in Denver for the biennial Conclave. Along with the prestigious Master Builder Award honoring Ryan Downs '88, our chapter accepted the Award of Excellence and was the all-around winner for Community Service during 2015. After the determined efforts of our recruitment team, we welcomed 25 new members' families into the fold. In spite of a quality recruiting class, Andrew Minarick '15 and his team continued recruiting semester pledges exhibiting proven leadership qualities during their first semester. Fall Highlights After a fast start, the chapter held several events, including an all-house meeting to discuss the positive direction of our chapter's culture after Clay Real's passing. Several speakers, including Capt. John Sundermeier of LPD, Father Mills, and Duke Engle of the university CAPS program, came to assist in educating our members. Philanthropy Chairman Brady Ball '14 kicked off Scoops for Schools, a new fundraiser benefitting the afterschool Lighthouse Program, and continued Totally Baldacious that promotes the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, raising more than $7,600 collectively. Furthermore, members contributed more than 2,000 to the community, well exceeding our 1,800-hour goal. We remained social by interspersing formals among Christmas parties, swing dancing, and other sober social events with sororities. At the same time, we reset our scholarship goal to 3.45 in response to our spring 2015 GPA of 3.447—scores sufficient for FarmHouse to place first among all fraternities. Among chapter accomplishments, individual members continue to receive accolades reflecting their leadership: UNMC accepted senior Matt O'Dell '14 into medical school, senior Matt Foley '15 was named Homecoming king, and Army ROTC promoted junior Joey Gilham '16 to brigade commander of 23 schools in the Midwest region. Thank You, Alumni Evidenced by intramural success and communities of faith forming through several bible studies, my firm belief is that our chapter will always strive for betterment in diverse areas. As the spring semester begins, our new officers have set goals to target areas of improvement while expounding upon previous strengths. I especially want to thank all of you for your continued support in times of change and maturation. As we retire our physical structure, I encourage all alumni, families, and friends to explore the old walls one final time on April 22 to revive old memories while joining our concerted efforts to construct a progressive future.
