Theta Chapter at the University of Missouri

Our Needs and Opportunities
W
hile the Kappa experience is certainly more than the physical
structure of the chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays a
significant role in the development of our sisters and serves as a proud
symbol of our shared values and goals.
Built in 1928, with the addition constructed in 1968, 512 Rollins
has been a part of Theta Chapter's legacy for 88 years. The classic
architecture and lush green landscaping continue to be a source of
pride for alumnae and current members; but it has become clear that
we must make a major investment in our chapter house if we are to
remain competitive, provide a quality living environment, and meet the
needs of our sisters today.
Unprecendented Growth
Kappa Kappa Gamma, like most sororities at Mizzou, has experienced
tremendous growth in chapter size. Theta Chapter currently has
more than 300 active members. While this growth is welcomed and
appreciated, it does present some difficulties with the current facility.
The entire chapter is no longer able to fit in the chapter room and the
chapter can no longer have all-chapter dinners due to lack of space.
With most members not living in the Theta chapter house, the need
for more common space is critical. Our facility does not have the
appropriate amount of study and living space to make all sisters feel
welcome and at home.
Setting Kappa Apart
While Theta Chapter continues to recruit the top new members, we know
that in order to remain competitive we must improve our facility. We
must also compete with the amenities offered in new and renovated on-
campus residence halls and off-campus apartments. Over the past 10
years, Mizzou has built nine and renovated eight residence halls. Newly
constructed off-campus apartments offer hotel-style amenities, including
fitness centers, luxury pools, game rooms, and more. For Kappa to remain
a premier sorority at MU, we must renovate and expand our facility to
attract the quality of women we pride ourselves on.
We cannot allow Kappa to be left behind.
