Joey, my loving, happy little Shih Tzu died in April when he came between me (his human mom) and a Mohave Green rattle- snake who was coiled on our deck, ready to strike. Joey would have survived the bite of a common rattler because he had his rattlesnake shots. The Mohave Green has two kinds of venom, 16 times as toxic as the dia- mondback or sidewinder. Because this venom is neurotoxic, death will occur. This snake is most active here, April to September. Joey saved my life. If you im- munize your animals, he may have saved them too. Maurine Moncur WELCOME BACK! Welcome back Snowbirds to the Rock Capital of the World! I'm glad you're here and hope you enjoy your stay in our community. Swindoll The League suggested council members have Facebook pages to communicate directly with the community. So, I've started a new page where citizens can present their ideas and suggestions. (See link below) Be sure to check out the new Quartzsite Police Department Facebook page, which has been very active recently. The Quartzsite Municipal Boards are requesting volunteers to serve on the Boards. If you are inter- ested, please go to the Town Hall and submit a Volunteer Interest Statement and check the box on the back of the form indicating the board on which you would like to serve. Council will be utilizing the boards to help guide the future of Quartzsite. At this point in time, it appears that this council will be able to work together in a positive and productive direction for Quartzsite. I look forward to many changes coming in the near future. Be part of the change and submit your con- structive ideas and possible solu- tions to improve our community. I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any suggestions for improvements or any ideas please email them to me at Starr. BearCat@QuartzsiteAZ.org. You can also post suggestions at www.Facebook.com/Quartzsite- CouncilMemberStarrBearCat. I wish you and your family Happy Holidays and a very Prosperous New Year! Starr BearCat Quartzsite Council Member BLM WELCOMES SNOWBIRDS The Bureau of Land Management's Yuma Field Offi ce welcomes our winter visitors, especially those stay- ing in our campgrounds or taking advantage of recreation opportuni- ties on BLM administered lands. As a result of the completion of the La Posa Travel Management Plan, 1500 route markers have been in- stalled along the 1100 miles of open trails within the area. We are in the process of getting a revised route guide printed and hope to have it available soon. The route maps can also be found and downloaded on- line at: https://www.avenzamaps. com/vendor/1600/bureau-of-land- management-arizona/ While you were gone, we've contin- ued our on-going maintenance with- in the campgrounds including road grading and vegetation clearance. We were also able to hire additional seasonal park rangers to help man- age the 11,000 acres within the Long Term Visitor Areas and help ensure you have an enjoyable stay. We hope you have a safe and enjoy- able holiday season while enjoying the many recreation opportunities on your public lands.
