Provided by Elmer London, Quartzsite and Desert Messenger It's amazing to me how much procrastination is a part of one's life. It's so easy to blame the weather. It's too hot or too cold. So easy to just sit and think About all the things that need to be done. Oh what the heck. Tomorrow is another day. Vehicle burglaries "The best way to get what you really want out of life is to constantly adapt to the present, because there is wisdom in its uncertainty." ~Deepak Chopra, M.D. Happy Christmahannukwanzadan and I think that covers everybody! Winter offi cially begins Wednesday, December 21st. And with Hanukkah overlapping Christmas, there may be fewer Jews eating Chinese food and going to the movies. The full dates for Hanukkah 2016 are the evening of Dec. 24 to the evening of Jan. 1. While raising my children, we celebrated many holidays during this season. It was fun attending in- terfaith services and hearing unique songs of our different cultures. It's wonderful to have those memories, but it's not healthy for me to be dis- appointed that my life today (that I have chosen) is totally different. Deepak Chopra said, "There is deep satisfaction in the now, which eter- nally renews itself instead of running after illusions that come from the past and deserve to remain there." And then, as the New Year ap- proaches, we look back over the past year and make resolutions for the future. Of course, we'll review the crazy political year, but is that really who we are? How we react to what is going on around us is up to us. I'm inspired by the Dalai Lama who said, "We all have to live to- gether, so we might as well live to- gether happily." Let's make some goals for the fu- ture year- let us: accept each other for who they are; celebrate our dif- ferences, enjoy learning about dif- ferent cultures; treat each other as we would want to be treated; be grateful for every day we're alive; reach out to those in need-no matter what they look like; love life; make mistakes - for that means we're do- ing something new; treat each oth- er with kindness; bring the best of who we are wherever we go; forgive those who've caused us harm; share our abundance with others; show kindness; bring peace to the world. Recent Vehicle Burglaries at Local Businesses On Saturday 12/10/16 and Sunday 12/11/16, the Quartzsite Police in- vestigated three separate vehicle burglaries from three separate vic- tims at three separate locations in the Town of Quartzsite. In each case an unidentifi ed suspect or suspects smashed the vehicle's window and stole property that was left in open view inside the vehicle while the victims were inside the establish- ments either eating or receiving other services. One burglary oc- curred during daylight hours and the other two occurred after dark. The Quartzsite Police encourage its community members and guests to remove their valuables from ve- hicles or place valuable items out of the view of would-be thieves. These criminals are looking for easy tar- gets of opportunity, are hoping to go unnoticed and have no respect for our community. If you see sus- picious activity, immediately report it to the Quartzsite Police via the La Paz County Central Dispatch at 1- 888-818-4911 for non-emergencies and 911 for emergencies. If you have any information on these crimes, please contact the Quartzsite Police Department and an offi cer will follow up on the in- formation. With your help, the hard working men and women of the Quartzsite Police Department will locate these criminals and see to it that justice is served.
