6 www.texaspikes.com The Beta Mu Review T he Pike Chapter took several busses to Dallas for the Red River Shootout and State Fair weekend, where young men and their dates enjoyed a fun-filled weekend. Despite the loss to the Oklahoma Sooners this year, Pike actives and alumni enjoyed the weekend in Dallas. A great time was also had by about 45 Beta Mu alumni and family at a first-ever Texas/OU Weekend Alumni Sunday Brunch at Ozona Grill (formerly Cardinal Puffs). Stay tuned for this new annual alumni event next year! Red River Shootout Weekend in Dallas A boisterous gathering of Pike alumni graduating between the early to mid-'70s had a 40th reunion in Austin in early November. Alumni had the chance to reconnect with each other and also visit the Pike house. More than 50 brothers and wives enjoyed a full weekend of activities, including a Friday eve- ning dinner at Headliners Club, a Saturday morning tour of the Pike house, and a Stubbs barbe- cue lunch and tailgate on the grounds of Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium before enjoying the Longhorn's victory over the Baylor Bears. Saturday evening, brothers enjoyed small dinners throughout Austin, and Sunday included a closing brunch at Matts El Rancho. Suzanne and Mitch Owen '73 and Cynthia and Jeff Kuhn '74 enjoyed being at the reunion (above right). Charlie Beckham '73, who organized the event, said, "After forty years, some of us were a little shorter, some of us were a little larger, some of us had grey hair and some of us had none. Some we had not seen in decades and some we see every week. We all had beautiful wives. We also have something very special—we all have an enduring friendship that has lasted over forty years with our brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha. We had a wonderful celebration." The Class of 1976's 40th Reunion B rothers from the classes of 1995-96 gather to reconnect at a football week- end reunion this fall. The Class of 1996's 20th Reunion M embers enjoyed Parents Weekend October 14-16 in Austin. Thank you to the many parents who joined us! We were able to enjoy a nice Friday night din- ner and Saturday tailgate before watching a Longhorn win over Iowa State.
