He is now retired and living in Nevada City, Calif., where he volunteers and works on his HO train layout. He also contributed to a new television program, 10 Most Important American Buildings, and wrote a book on Monticello. He and his wife, Barbara, have been happily married for 47 years. They built and opened the Boulder Valley Velodrome in 2014, which is a 250-meter Olympic-caliber bicycle racing track.
