FALL 2016 Inside Brotherhood Is a Lifetime Bond - 2 CO Alpha Raises $18,000 - 3 Alumni News - 4 ΣΦΕ C O L O R A D O A L P H A s U N I V E R S I T Y O F C O L O R A D O S I G M A P H I E P S I L O N FlatiroN THE I 'm pleased to share that over last two semesters, Colorado Alpha has become the largest Fraternity on campus. These new numbers have allowed the Chapter to grow its influence at the University of Colorado, Boulder and expand connections within the larger community. Chapter House Updates and Alumni Network As the active brothers set the tone within the Greek community, the Alumni Volunteer Corporation (AVC) has continued to improve the Chapter House and property, which now sits as a cornerstone of the Broadway and University Memorial Center intersection. The outdoor turf accommodations have now been complete for almost a year and these facilities have allowed for numerous outdoor events, including pregame tailgating for CU football games, concerts, and general recreation. The revamped main floor, anchored by the Kent Hickman Study, has allowed the growing membership to study, celebrate, and bond together. As the AVC transitions into new leadership for the coming year, one area of focus is expanding our alumni relations. We want to build our alumni brotherhood by helping the graduating seniors transition into an active network that stays in touch and tries to return to the house each year for signature events. Please make sure to update your contact information by e-mailing me at avc.coalpha@gmail.com so that you receive notifications and invites as future events are announced. Support and Volunteers Appreciated We continue to make new improvements to the Chapter House inside and out as we keep pace with the growing number of active members. Donations and gifts to facilitate our ongoing Did You Know? For Colorado Alpha that means: t Full fire sprinkler system in each room and on every floor t Fire marshall inspection four times per year t Four fire drills per year t Over 30 smoke and fire detectors in the house t Carbon monoxide detectors within 15 feet of all bedrooms t Boiler safety inspection every three years t Off-site fire and smoke monitoring t Kitchen fire extinguishing system t Four chemical fire extinguishers in common hallways t City of Boulder rental inspection every four years t Emergency lighting and exit signs at all exterior doors t Fire escape system at ends of bedroom hallways We work hard to ensure our Chapter House is updated and safe for our growing number of active members. Colorado Alpha Remains Largest Fraternity on Campus Alumni Help Needed for Video Showcasing the Chapter's Legacy Members of the Alumni Advisory Committee at their annual meeting during Homecoming weekend. The completed outdoor turf area has become a great space for events and gatherings. improvement projects are always welcome, but non-monetary donations in the form of serving on the AVC or as a Chapter advisor also go a long way to ensure the continued success of Colorado Alpha. We have added a few new members to the board in recent months and we encourage anyone interested in getting involved to contact avc.coalpha@gmail.com for more information on upcoming meetings. Alumni Help Needed for Chapter Video We are producing a high-quality video tentatively titled, Colorado Alpha...Past and Present, which will be used in our recruiting efforts and will (Continued on page 2)
