The chapter has recruited more than 30 new members this year, and the undergraduate Phis at Iowa State now number over 100. Phi Delts lead and support many of the top student-run events, academic clubs, and faith- based and philanthropic organizations at Iowa State. Examples include Dance Marathon, Greek Week, Homecoming Central, Student Body Government, Pre-Med Club, Cornerstone Church SALT Club, and National Society of Collegiate Scholars—and that's just a sample. Many of the leadership efforts that keep the structure running, social life active, philanthropy outreach impactful, and scholarship results in the fraternity top 10 are not as visible, but are critical to the well-being of the chapter. Not surprisingly, this teamwork fuels the ongoing success we have seen recently in recruiting more high-quality men. That surfaced even in the last few weeks, as the Phi Delts teamed with Alpha Delta Pi to make this fall's Yell Like Hell finals, finishing second. A big win this year was Mom G's decision to stay on as housemother for a few more years. Our cook, Gail, continued her commitment to serve up awesome meals for our members. They both provide a complement of consistency and stability to our undergraduates that is hard to match. Maybe the most visible highlight this fall was the final phase of our house renovation project, culminating in a significant upgrade to our external structure. This was celebrated at Homecoming in a ribbon cutting ceremony led by Bill Beckman 934. In short, the Iowa Gamma Phis are on a roll of momentum that is impressive. Is it any wonder that with the guidance of our dedicated chapter advisor, Steve Good 1645, they will compile their list of accomplishments and apply for the Harvard Trophy this spring? I feel very blessed and honored to be associated with the wonderful group of men and women that is such an integral part of our strong bond of brotherhood. Yours in the Bond, Scot Alexander 1274 House Corporation President An Incredible Year of Change, Progress, and Wins for Iowa Gamma IOWA GAMMA FOCUSES ON PHILANTHROPY THIS FALL T he men of Iowa Gamma have had a busy fall semester thus far. A few of the chapter's main successes include: ACADEMICS The chapter's GPA for the spring 2016 semester was a 3.15 GPA. Although we met our goal of a 3.0 GPA as a chapter, there is always room for improvement. We are currently ranked 10th out of the 30 fraternities at Iowa State University in academics, and have improved two spots in the right direction, as last semester we were ranked 12th. Iowa Gamma continues to move forward in the right direction and always looks for ways to improve. RECRUITMENT Iowa Gamma is extremely excited about our fall 2016 recruitment class. Recruitment Chairmen Alex Abate 1901 and Hunter Riedl 1917 were successful in recruiting 26 new members for the fall Phikeia class. We are always looking to recruit new men who best exemplify the three Cardinal Principles. To refer a potential new member, please visit iastate.phideltatheta.org/join/refer-someone. Nine Iowa Gamma members volunteered at The ALS Association's Walk to Defeat ALS in Des Moines. (Continued on page 2) Ribbon cutting during the rededication ceremony on October 29.
