Epsilon Beta Chapter 4 T his summer, Epsilon Beta Chapter was given the opportunity to have four members attend Kappa Kappa Gamma's 73rd biennial Convention. Upon arrival, we were assigned random roommates for our time at Convention. This turned out to be a valuable aspect of Convention. It put a tangible experience to the idea of sharing an unspoken bond with a sister you've never met before. We all got along easily and comfortably with our roommates and enjoyed broadening our Kappa connections. The days consisted of seminars focused on specific aspects of the Fraternity, such as academics and event planning, and we tried to divide and conquer the areas we felt our chapter had the most room to grow in. It was refreshing to confide in chapters the needs of our own, and receive direct feedback about what could help our chapter in the upcoming years. Business meetings were held every morning, where we were able to witness large changes to the Fraternity being discussed and voted on. It was memorable to witness such a large group of women all coming together for the benefit and betterment of each and every Kappa chapter; it was during those meetings that the idea of Kappa feeling bigger than oneself became concretely attached to this experience. During these meetings we practiced our ritual: being among a group that size, practicing what makes us Kappas and what holds the meaning of the Fraternity was truly unforgettable. Finally, coming together at the end of each day to share dinner as an entire Fraternity and reflect on our revelations of each day was vital. Being able to share ideas and findings as well as build off of things to bring back to the chapter was so encouraging in terms of thinking about the future of Epsilon Beta. Convention revealed itself to really being about coming together to share successes and hardships, to celebrate chapters, and lift others up with advice and guidance for future successes of all chapters.
