Individuals needing LEP assistance may contact City Hosts Recycled Art Show and Fashion Show City Council Appoints Voorhees as New City Manager The Fayetteville City Council appointed Ted Voorhees as city manager with a unanimous vote for start work in early August. for Fourth Friday The City of Fayetteville and the City's Environmental Services Department are hosting the second Recycled Art Show as the featured event at the Arts Council for Fourth Friday this month. In addition, this year, the event has added another dimension to the show with the Repurposed Fashion Show. and will run for a month. Prizes will be awarded that evening to the winners of the 18 and older age group sent out in Cumberland County and surrounding counties served by the Arts Council. While entries for the art show, made from recyclable materials, turned in their pieces early for judging, those interested in the fashion show have turned in an application, but will bring or wear their entries to Fourth Friday. A winner will be selected that evening. He is the eighth manager in the city's history. Voorhees is currently serving as deputy city manager in Durham, a position he has held for 10 years. Prior to his duties in Durham, he was the assistant city manager in Wilmington for two years. Fayetteville utilized a nationwide search that netted 120 applicants before choosing Voorhees. "I am eager to bring my family to Fayetteville and become a part of this great community," Voorhees said. "The City Council has shared several key goals with me that I will begin addressing immediately. I also look forward to meeting with residents, community leaders, our shared vision for success." Voorhees holds a Bachelor of Science from American University and earned a Master of Public Administration from George Mason University. Voorhees graduated from the Municipal Administration Program at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government and earned Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service from the University of Virginia.
