e Washington Alpha Delt 3 W ashington Chapter continues to reach new heights. This past summer, Vice President Eli Brewer '17 and I had the pleasure of going to Washington, D.C., for the International Convention, and I am proud to announce that we returned with the EO Blackman Most Outstanding Chapter award. Additionally, a few literary awards were won by individual members of the chapter. This was a huge honor for us as undergraduates and served as a reminder of what we strive for. Nonetheless, we are already working on pin-pointing areas of improvement so that we can win the EO Blackman award again next year. Recruitment Rekindles Alpha Delta Phi Spirit The undergraduate chapter welcomed fall with open arms. This time of the year is always exciting for the chapter because we get to welcome the newest pledge class into our home and begin to teach them the ways of the Alpha Delta Phi. While this time period primarily helps the freshmen understand our values and standards, it always serves as a time to rekindle a passion for the fraternity within the active members as well. Everyone is always ready to help the new pledge class take on the challenge of learning our history. Another factor contributing to the chapter's excitement is the size of this new class. At 26 members, they are the largest pledge class we have had since the reestablishment of Washington Chapter. Our recruitment team surpassed all hopes and expectations we had for them, as these 26 men add to the seven brothers we initiated last spring. Each of these new members will undoubtedly improve the chapter in their own unique way, and along the journey to doing so, they will find themselves growing into fine young men. Continued Chapter Success While the new pledge class is one of our bigger focus points of the fall, it is not the only one. We have continued to excel academically, and that trend is something that will remain important throughout the semester. We recently made a number of physical improvements to the chapter house as well, such as redoing the dining room floors, repainting the walls, improving the yard and shrubbery, and building a new fence for the yard. We also hosted a wonderful alumni reunion dinner for the class of 1966 and a Homecoming barbecue. I am proud of what we are doing, and proud of where Washington Chapter is going. It is a good time to be an Alpha Delt.
