www.alpha6294.com Alphabet 4 THETA XI CONTINUES ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE ALPHA CHAPTER CLAIMS THE PRESIDENT'S CUP T he Alpha Chapter of Theta Xi has continued to climb and has become one of the best fra- ternities on campus. Our active chapter is com- prised of 40 brothers and 10 associate members. While recruitment was down across the board at RPI, Theta Xi was still able to recruit a class of fine men. As more renovations are being com- pleted at the chapter house, both recruitment and pride in our beloved fraternity have benefitted. Raising Money for Multiple Sclerosis Research The Alpha Chapter has continued to be a pres- ence on campus in philanthropic events by rais- ing money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and volunteering at the Vanderheyden Hall for underprivileged youths. The men of the Alpha Chapter will also be assisting in cleaning up the Oakwood Cemetery to honor the final resting place of Alpha 8, Nathaniel Henry Starbuck. Campus Involvement In addition to our philanthropic efforts, the broth- ers have increased involvement on campus in many organizations. The brothers are members of Formula SAE, engineering ambassadors, club lacrosse, club hockey, and many more. Not only are brothers participating, they are leading these organizations with members holding executive positions in almost every club. Second in Academics The Alpha Chapter of Theta Xi strives for aca- demic excellence and the actives have increased our chapter GPA. The Alpha Chapter is ranked second out of all fraternities with a term GPA of 3.32 and a cumulative GPA of 3.21. These aver- ages, coupled with the actives' involvement on campus, speak to the well-roundedness of the ac- tives. These GPAs are well above the all-campus averages in both semester and cumulative GPAs. National Convention Awards We won multiple awards at the National Con- vention held in Minnesota in August. The Alpha Chapter was presented with the first- place award for an outstanding newsletter, the accreditation award for attaining accreditation in nine of nine areas, and the President's Cup for operating as one of the top 10% of Theta Xi chapters nationwide. It was fantastic to connect with brothers during alumni weekend. I welcome any alumni in the area to stop by the chapter house and meet the great men of the active chapter. We look forward to continuously pushing to improve and would love nothing more than to share the increasing success of the chapter with the alumni that built the framework this great fraternity grows upon.
