Van Oyen '15 Building a Better Missouri Alpha: Scott Kellett '90 Gives Back W hen Scott Kellett '90 came to Mizzou, he had no idea of the experiences and friendships that lay ahead at Phi Delta Theta. It was obvious that as soon as he met the men of Missouri Alpha, he had found his home away from home. The personalities, attitudes, and interests were an immediate match and helped Scott quickly begin a lifetime of strong brotherly bonds. "The ability to develop close and lasting relationships—and the trust that goes along with that—is something that has stayed with me and is a big reason for the successful career I have today," he says. Scott's Missouri Alpha experience inspired him to give back to the chapter to ensure future generations are provided the same rewarding friendships and memories. Often, the fondest memories aren't the big events, but the small moments that, when put together, make up the bonds that stay with you throughout your life. For Scott, some of his most cherished memories were attending Mizzou football games with brothers and celebrating his status as an active member with his pledge class after initiation. These priceless memories culminated in Missouri Alpha, which is why he is eager to see the chapter grow through the success of the capital campaign. Because Scott knows an attractive, well-maintained chapter house is a tremendous source of pride for undergraduates and alumni alike, supporting Missouri Alpha's campaign became inherently part of who he is. "This campaign is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our fraternity. It will afford undergrad- uates and alumni a beautiful physical plant that will be one of the best fraternities on campus, and will help us attract and retain the type of young men we want to have as FDQ brothers for the future. Your financial support, no matter the size, will make a world of difference in the lives of undergraduate brothers and alumni alike." As an alumnus, Scott stays true to his Missouri Alpha roots and maintains connections with Scott Lawrence '90, Brent Greninger '90, and John Smalley '90, to name a few. Scott makes it a priority to visit the chapter house every year, interact with the un- dergraduate members, and attend a Tigers football game. "I look forward to visiting the chapter house in the near future and seeing the renovated house for myself!" he says. Scott is president and CEO for Central Trust Company, which involves managing $5 billion in assets for clients. He says, "I've truly enjoyed having a career that allows me the opportunity to travel across Missouri, reconnect with friends and my brothers across the state, and mentor and guide a great wealth management team" When he is not hard at work, you'll likely find Scott scuba diving, lobster fishing, golfing, or spending time with his wife, Stacia, who is a Tri Delta alumna at Mizzou and who Scott met at Harpo's, and their two sons, Hunter, who is an aerospace engineering major at Auburn, and Wyatt, who is a senior in high school and will go on to join a swim team in college. Aside from living in Jefferson City, Missouri, Scott also owns a second home in Florida, where he goes boating. You can contact Scott at scott.kellett@sabadellus.com.
