Most recently she has been working with a gardener to set up pots for herbs and vegetables at Pi Phi to provide the best and freshest food for the young women of Colorado Alpha. Heather is setting up a central location for an event calendar in the dining room so that all of the sisters know what's going on at Pi Phi any given time. "I think this will also help build the community within the house," she stated. In addition to serving as House Director, Heather teaches pilates classes and ice skating lessons; she coaches four synchronized ice skating teams as well as provides private lessons for children ages 5 to 18. She started ice skating at age 3, competed into her teenage years and competed at nationals with the La Furia Adult Masters Synchronized skating team three years ago. She has a niece and a sister who live in California; her parents still reside in New Jersey, but they love to visit Boulder. Besides gardening, Kate loves working with herbs and makes a variety of iced teas. "I love being able to bring that into the house for the young women if they are feeling stressed," she said. Kate also enjoys dancing and practicing yoga. She has a Bernese mountain dog named Rosie Toes, as well as a nephew and a niece whom she adores.
