She graduated from CU Boulder in 1949 and married John "Jock" Fleming in Boulder on June 8, 1950. They lived in Taos on and off for 65 years. In addition to Taos, Dee and Jock lived in Alamosa, CO; Penasco, NM; and Williams, AZ. Dee managed the Taos Book Shop from 1975 to 1985. She loved skiing, hiking, sewing, baking, gardening, bird watching and volunteering at their church, but she was most proud of being a homemaker. Dee is survived by her children, Barbara Quijada (Frank), John (Ann Bieri) and Malcolm (Susan Nedell); six grandchildren; and one great- grandchild. Jo Sprecher Chappell '53 passed away on June 7 at her home in Corvallis, OR, surrounded by her family. She met her late husband, Berkely, while attending the University of Colorado at Boulder, and they married in 1955. They settled in Corvallis with their four children in 1963. Jo is survived by her children, Corby Chappell (Terri), Kaelin Broaddus (Michael), Whitney Hymas (Todd) and Carl Chappell; her grandchildren, Aaron Chappell (Kely Corbett), Brady Hymas, Megan Chappell, Grace Chappell and Marris Chappell; a great-granddaughter, Zoey Chappell; and her beloved Basset Hound, Banjo. ALuMNAe NeWS Gloria Demmon Gregory '45 is 90 years old and worked in schools as a social worker until she was 82; 40 years in public school and 13 years in charter for a total of 53 years! The last 13 years were two days a week. She resides in Longboat Key, FL, for six months out of the year and the rest of the year she lives in Grand Rapids, MI, in a condo overlooking Lake Michigan. Gloria has four children, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Jean von Detten kunberger '49 is an active member of the North County San Diego Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club with Pi Phi sisters from chapters all over the U.S. "How wonderful to have this contact throughout the years," she says. She lives in San Diego, CA, with her husband, George. Email: jkunberger@san.rr.com Nancy van Derbur knowlton '54 says that all is fine with her and that she has 10 great- grandchildren. She lives in Vail, CO, with her husband, Richard. Email: nknowlton@aol.com Marilynn Thompson Johnston '58 moved to Tucson, AZ, in 2015 and loves the decision she and her husband, Bruce, made to move there. They have six wonderful grandchildren and feel truly blessed. Email: ograymare@gmail.com Susan Day Ledieu '62 lives in Newtown Square, PA, with her husband, Bernard. Last fall, Susan, Jan Newcomb '62, Nancy Bywater Dornfeld '62, Nancy Lake Benson '62 and Barbara Neff Quinlan '62 reconnected during Homecoming Weekend for the graduating class of 1965's 50th reunion brunch. "It was wonderful to see everyone! Truly our friendships from Colorado Alpha extend from ocean to ocean, from Huntington Beach, CA, to Philadelphia, PA," she says. During the summer of 2015, her youngest daughter visited the CU campus and Pi Phi chapter house (she was a ZTA at Penn State) and sent her a picture and a text that said, "Mom, this explains a lot!" Laura wishes the best of luck to all undergraduates and hopes to pay a visit someday. She retired in 2005 and has since spent her time between Princeton, NJ, and Stongton, CT. She spends summers boating, entertaining and eating lobsters with her husband, Thomas. "It is heartwarming!" She lives in Castle Rock, CO, with her husband, Perry.
