l
ooking back on
her time as an
undergraduate member
of Colorado Alpha,
Lisa Corboy '88 loved
being a part of the
sisterhood, bonding with
her sisters and feeling
comfortable with being
herself. During that time,
she gained valuable
leadership experience by serving as Recruitment
Chairman and Chapter President. "I believe that
by being on the Executive Council, I was able to
learn to work with many individuals and found
that leadership was an intrinsic quality that I
loved," she said. "Organization and committee
work has proved to be a large part of all of
my post-collegian experiences." Lisa fondly
remembers the Pi Beta Phi sisterhood tradition
and heritage, which ultimately motivated her
to stay connected to Pi Phi after she graduated
in 1991.
Following graduation with a degree in business
administration from the University of Colorado
Boulder, Lisa became involved with the
Colorado Alpha Alumnae Advisory Committee
and helped with recruitment. "I always enjoyed
recruitment as a collegian and found that I could
really help the chapter in this role," she stated.
"Colorado Alpha is a very special house, and it's
extremely important to me to have it continue to
be a safe, comfortable and loving place for the
young women of Pi Phi."
Lisa shared that she lived in the chapter house
for three years and still considers it home, which
is another reason why she has stayed connected
with Pi Phi at the University of Colorado. "I
want Colorado Alpha to continue to respect
and love the house as much as I have all these
years," she stated. "Working on the Chapter
House Corporation board has been wonderful.
To reconnect toward a common goal is amazing,
and the women on the board are so incredible
and energetic."
Lisa also remarked that making relevant changes
while maintaining the character of the house will
always be a challenge, but the active members
are so appreciative. "Sustaining, protecting and
upgrading the chapter house is of the utmost
importance," she said.
This December, Lisa will celebrate 23 years of
marriage with her husband, Chip, whom she
met at CU Boulder and whom she was pinned
by at the Colorado Alpha Chapter house. They
live in Louisville, CO, and have two children:
JC (19), who is a sophomore and in a fraternity
at CU Boulder, and Allie (17), who is a senior
in high school. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys
road cycling, skiing, walking their Labrador
named Mojo, gardening and going to CU
Buffalo football games. She can be reached at
corboys@yahoo.com if you would like to
reconnect.
