By an act of serendipity, Chuck discovered these scrapbooks while completing walkthroughs of the Chapter House. e two 1970s era books were discovered in a second-floor closet prior to building contractors arriving to complete extensive renovations in May 1997, and the 1950s era books were discovered in 1971 in the third-floor attic pool room just before the old Chapter House was demolished by e University. Accompanying the scrapbooks is a brief explanation of how the five Chapter scrapbooks came to be saved titled, "Publications of Historical Interest to the Alabama Chapter of Delta Chi." Importantly, this explanation also contains complete documentation of the 2011-14 Chapter House renewal project that made the outstanding structure you see today. Aer several decades of holding onto these books, Chuck, at the age of 80, felt it was time to put them where they would be permanently safe and available to Alumni. e University Special Collections are located at 500 Hackberry Lane on the second floor.
