Ontheair haveapotentpassinggame but not a single rusher with even 100 yards on the sea- son. Quarterback Garrett Best has an impressive 1,787 yards through the air and 15 touchdowns with 10 picks. He's also the Falcons' lead rusher with 79 yards on eight carries. Defending the pass will be key for the Spartans and they'll look to pressure Best and force mistakes. The Spartans have out- scored the Falcons, averag- ing 27 per game compared to just 19, but have given up more, averaging 40 per game versus 32. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Central Valley High School, 4066 La Mesa Ave. in Shasta Lake. Bulldogsvs.Greenville LOS MOLINOS The Los Molinos Bulldogs (3-5, 2-2) will wrap up the sea- son Friday when they host the Greenville Indians (4- 4, 3-1) for a shot at the California South 8-Man League playoffs. The Bulldogs are com- ing off two big losses, to the cross-county rival Mercy Warriors Oct. 15 and the non-conference Upper Lake Cougars Oct. 22. Greenville sits in second place in the league stand- ings thanks to the one- two punch of quarterback Carter Kingdon, with 1,042 rushing yard and 536 pass- ing yards and a combined 13 touchdowns, and Chris- topher Gibson with 800 yards on 52 carries for 10 touchdowns. The Bulldogs have their own combination of play makers, with quarterback Alex Russell posting 308 passing yards and 1,034 rushing yards and a com- bined 12 touchdowns de- spite being held out of two games this season, and freshman Hunter Land- ingham with 140 pass- ing yards and 383 rush- ing yards for three touch- downs. Scoring is where the match-up is lopsided, with the Indians putting up an average of 40 per game and allowing just 25, while the Bulldogs have posted just 20 per game and given up 41 on average. Still, home field advan- tage, a wet field and the Bulldogs' shot at a play- off berth in the balance could motivate them to up- set Greenville to finish the year on a high note. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Los Moli- nos High School. Warriors vs. Loyalton RED BLUFF The Mercy Warriors (3-4, 2-2) are com- ing off a tough loss to The Branson School in Ross and will look to bounce back Saturday when they host the Loyalton Grizzlies (2-5, 1-3) in a league game to close out the season. The Warriors will look to their high powered of- fense, led by Kavin McClel- lan with 452 yards passing, 1,452 yards rushing and a combined 11 touchdowns, to overwhelm the Grizzlies, who have allowed an aver- age of 39 points per game. The Warriors have out- scored the Grizzlies with 30 points per game com- pared to 21, but Mercy has given up more scores, al- lowing an average of 43 points per game on the year. Looking to match-ups is tricky, but the Los Molinos Bulldogs easily dispatched the Grizzlies 42-0 on Sept. 16, and the Warriors did nearly the same to the Bull- dogs Oct. 15, beating them at home 68-0. With the Warriors play- ing better as the season progresses, a win would help ensure a shot in the California South 8-Man League playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Parish School. Football FROM PAGE 1 zie on Thursday was not granted. The Raiders have main- tained they are more con- cerned about Smith get- ting the help he needs as a person than they are about getting him back on the football field. Smith has had five run- ins with the law since 2011 when the 49ers made him a first-round pick. He was cut by San Francisco af- ter the last one, an August 2015 charge of drunken driving, hit and run and vandalism. Oakland signed him on the eve of the 2015 season and he played the first nine games before the suspen- sion, which the team had anticipated. He became a free agent in the offsea- son but the Raiders signed him to a two-year deal, al- though he's not getting paid until he's reinstated. "Whether he comes back to us or not, it has no bearing," McKenzie said of Smith in August, shortly after he checked into a re- hab facility following the circulation of a video on social media that hinted at possible marijuana use. Smith denied he was the person in the video. "We told him from Day 1, we care more about you than the player," McKenzie said. "So, whatever he does to ensure his health, we're going to stand behind him. We know his situation, it's not that we have blind- ers, you know. Going into last year, we knew the sus- pension was probable and it was going to be an up- hill battle. He's just going to have to fight the good fight, but we're not going to bail on him. But, he has to do his part." While the Raiders have approached Smith's situa- tion with no expectations, his reinstatement could be a boost to a pass rush that has just nine sacks, tied for third-worst in the league. The same could be said for Edwards, who remains on injured reserve with a hip injury. The Raiders plan to designate him as their one player who can be activated from IR and he was eligible to begin prac- ticing as of last week. He's required to sit out the sea- son's first eight games. Raiders coach Jack Del Rio had hoped to get him out running on the side last week, but that didn't happen and Edwards didn't initially travel with the team to Florida. Af- ter the Raiders confirmed he is now with the team, as ESPN initially reported, Edwards still is not practic- ing and didn't do any work on the side during the me- dia viewing window Thurs- day. A day before, Del Rio said, "when he's cleared, he'll go. Until then, he's going to do stuff, whether it's on the side or with the trainers and the doctors like all players that are in that designation where doctors have control." Although Edwards could technically play when the Raiders host the Denver Broncos on Nov. 6, it's un- likely he'll have enough practice time to get ready, making the post-bye trip to Mexico a more likely target date. • Running back/spe- cial teamer Taiwan Jones (knee) returned to prac- tice in a limited capacity on Thursday, while defen- sive tackle Stacy McGee (ankle) remained sidelined. Raiders FROM PAGE 1 ations Theo Epstein said. "They're the professionals here and move forward. Kyle understands that. He wants to play, he's the ulti- mate gamer, but he under- stands that the doctor's judgment has to rule the day in this case." Schwarber was ruled out for the year after he tore two knee ligaments in an outfield collision with Dexter Fowler in Chicago's third game of the season. But he had an encourag- ing checkup with Dr. Dan- iel Cooper on Oct. 17 in Dal- las, clearing the way for a short stay in the Arizona Fall League before serving as the designated hitter in Cleveland. Facing major league pitching for the first time in six months, Schwarber doubled and walked in Game 1. He added a pair of RBI singles Wednesday night , leading to lengthy phone conversations with Cooper and Dr. Stephen Gryzlo, one of the Cubs' physicians, that ultimately led to the safe route for the 23-year-old catcher/out- fielder. "Facts are facts," Schwarber said. "I just can't physically do it. So I'm go- ing to be ready at any time during the game to go out there and pinch-hit." Series FROM PAGE 1 dove into the left corner of the end zone for his sixth touchdown run of the sea- son. Jacksonville (2-5) trailed 24-0 by the time it got its second first down of the game midway through the second quarter. The Titans made it 27-0 at the inter- mission with a 90-yard drive that resulted in Ryan Succop's 22-yard field goal on the final play of the half. Blake Bortles threw three touchdown passes for Jacksonville and went 33 of 54 for 337 yards, but much of his production came with the game out of reach. UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY This is the first time the Titans have reached the midway point of the sea- son without a losing record since 2011, when they also were 4-4. That 2011 team went on to finish 9-7. RARE RECOVERY The Ti- tans got their first fum- ble recovery of the season in the third quarter. After Jacksonville's Marqise Lee muffed a punt return, Ti- tans rookie LeShaun Sims pounced on the ball at the Jaguars' 35. The turnover set up a 33-yard field goal by Succop.
