"It prepared me for a lot of the experiences life throws at you, principally about maturing—and there was a lot of room for that—getting along with others from diverse backgrounds, following the lead of more senior members on developing an education and career path, and of course having a little fun along the way," Gary says. As an undergraduate, none of his brothers understood why the famous Pete Boatright '56 remained so involved in the chapter house. But it all makes sense to him now. "He was simply giving back to something he strongly believed in and helping those that needed some guidance at an important time in their lives," Gary says. "Pete's gone now, so it's our time to take up the mantle." As an alumnus, Gary remains passionate about Delta Kappa and what the chapter did for him. "In many ways, my ATW experience was the most transformative of my life." Gary says. "We learned from both good and bad examples and, hopefully, are the better for it." Gary is the president and CEO of The Oklahoma Publishing Company and CEO of The Broadmoor – Sea Island Company. He and his wife, Myrla, have been married for 27 years and reside in Oklahoma City, Okla. They have a son who graduated from OU in May and is now attending the OU College of Law.
