The active members are back from a fun summer, we welcomed our newest members into our sisterhood, and the fall semester is filled with what seems to be boundless opportunity in new classes, new friends, and unlimited activities and events! The Xi Chapter House Corporation Board spent the summer months preparing for this wonderful time of year by making some necessary and fun improvements to our home, with the goal of making everything safe, secure, and stylish. Of course there were the necessary home improvements to be made, such as the new retaining wall in the parking lot and more secure keypad locks on all exterior doors. And then there were the fun, "wow" projects, like refreshing and refurnishing the first floor! We were so excited to host our alumnae-only Sip and See event on August 6, where we unveiled the new look. The event was so much fun, and would you believe that some sisters even slept over in the house that night? Everyone had a great time, and we would love to host more alumnae events like this in the future—we hope you will be able to join us! A big thank-you goes to all of our generous alumnae who choose to donate to the Xi House Corporation Board so that we are able to make these updates, whether necessary, fun, or both! We could not keep this "old" house in the shape it is in without your support. If you ever find yourself in the neighborhood, we hope you will stop by and take a tour for yourself! While you are there, take a glance at the bathrooms—you'll see why they are next on our list for an update! More information to come on that soon. Xi Chapter will always be yours—welcome home! Chapter House Improvements Made This Summer The first floor's furniture and décor was updated this summer. T o say Xi Chapter was important in the life of Esther Brabec '79 would be an understatement. When she joined Alpha Chi Omega in 1979, she wasn't quite sure what to expect. But it wasn't long before she found her "home away from home." ACW provided structure and leadership experience on campus, but one aspect remains the dearest to her. "The sorority provided me lifelong friends," Esther says. "I'm so glad I'm still able to stay in touch." She's able to keep up with sisters who live nearby and far away such as Diana Choquette '79 and Amy Vankat '79. She's thankful for social media and what it has done to keep her sisters connected all these years later. For Esther, supporting Xi Chapter's annual campaign is a simple decision. "It's a great investment of the future of young women," Esther says. "Houses get old, it costs money Esther Brabec '79 Gives Back to Alpha Chi Omega Xi Chapter Remains Significant to Alumna (Continued on page 2) Help us fund the next phase of updates at http:// alphachiomegaunl. kintera.org/donate.
