This Year's Heroes
Homecoming is a
Community-Wide Effort
The communi es of Cumberland
County have banded together to honor
the "Greatest Genera on" at the
fourth annual Heroes Homecoming on
November 3-6, 2016. The Faye eville
Area Conven on & Visitors Bureau has
partnered with local communi es and
organiza ons for a series of celebra ons
and tributes, educa onal ac vi es and
remembrances to honor the brave men
and woman who served our country
during World War II. Faye eville, Eastover,
Hope Mills and Spring Lake have each
dedicated special ceremonies to honor the
veterans living in their town.
Cumberland County Schools are at the
center of this year's celebra on. As most
World War II veterans are in their 90s,
this is one of the last opportuni es to
pass on the core values of the these brave
men and women to future genera ons.
Therefore students have commi ed to
keeping the legacy of WWII veterans alive
through a school-wide WWII educa on
week, crea ng remembrance banners
and other Heroes Homecoming ac vi es.
Addi onally, local 5th and 10th graders
will not only learn about the courage
of these local veterans but they will be
crea ng special tributes to honor them.
