Always ink of KD 2 In the meantime, we want to encourage you to come back to Florida State and Kappa Alpha. Here is your open invitation to reconnect with Kappa Delta. Right now, we are reaching through this letter to pull you back into the circle of sisterhood and wel- come you home. This fall and football season will be a great opportunity to come back to campus. We look forward to seeing many of you around this fall. Wondering how to get in touch with a lost sister? Are you working to organize a reunion? Want to know if someone is already planning a get-together? Whatever resources you need, let us know and we will connect you, help promote your event, set up your tour of campus with one of our active members, and, best of all, reconnect. If not for KD. Their husbands and children know that this is a sacred weekend reserved for Kappa Delta sisterhood, and they can see the difference it makes when their wives and mothers come back home with a fulfilled spirit and a huge smile! While busy lives and hurricanes have periodically threatened to end this tradition, it has stood the test of time and grows stronger every year! Pledge Classes of '89 and '90 Continue Sisterhood Jodi Scheurenbrand '78 ankful for Reconnecting with Kappa Delta J odi Scheurenbrand '78 initially went through recruitment because of her parents' Greek experience and her desire to find a meal plan. However, after spending time at the Kappa Alpha house, Jodi realized she had found much more than just a meal plan. "I kept coming back to the Kappa Delta house because the girls were real. The girls were of substance and character." Soon, Jodi was proud to belong to something bigger and wonderful. "A sisterhood of competent, kind, sophisticated, and pretty girls. Both individually and collectively, we were going places!" After graduating with a degree in accounting, Jodi moved first to Atlanta and later to NYC to pursue a career in finance. Fresh out of FSU, Jodi began her career as an accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co., and then moved on to senior finance roles in large multinationals (RJR Nabisco and Toys "R" Us). Along the way, she has traveled extensively for a Japanese-owned manufacturing firm (where being the only woman in senior management was tough), served as principal accounting officer for the publicly traded video game developer, Atari (in her words, "the most fun job ever"), and earned an MBA at NYU. More recently, she has moved into the not-for-profit space and serves as the CFO of a large private school in Manhattan. Through her work, Jodi found the most challenging part of any job was not a job's technical aspects, difficult as those may be. The most challenging part to any job is generally the people and finding ways to work effectively with different personalities and backgrounds. Thankfully, her Kappa Delta experience taught her how to effectively express her thoughts, opinions, and ideas, and, in the process, help a generally reserved person come out of her shell. After graduating from FSU, Jodi lost contact with most of her Kappa Delta sisters. "Don't make the mistake I made in thinking that Kappa Delta is primarily a collegiate experience." Thankfully, Jodi has been reclaimed by her Kappa Alpha sisters, specifically Beth Martin Langford '78 and Becky Sperry Wells '78, ♥ and now serves as the national vice president-finance for Kappa Delta Sorority. "I've not only reconnected with old friends, but made many more new ones that I intend to keep right by my side for life." Jodi hopes that other sisters will follow her lead and reconnect with Kappa Alpha. "It's never too late to reconnect to Kappa Alpha or Kappa Delta more broadly. Volunteer your time or just call up a few girls to meet for coffee. You'll quickly be reminded of what you've been keeping from yourself." Jodi and her husband, Michael Smith, live in New York City and spend most weekends in Sharon, Connecticut, where Jodi plays golf and enjoys day-tripping to other areas in the Northeast thanks to Mike's pilot's license.
