Kappa Alpha Chapter 3 Kappa Delta Sets the Bar in Recruitment and Community Service W e have had a successful beginning to the fall semester with an incredible new pledge class of 94 women and big Seminole wins on the gridiron. After a successful spirit week in preparation for recruitment, we bonded over many sisterhood activities and a Lofty Pursuits ice cream truck surprise! KAPPA ALPHA RECRUITS 94 NEW MEMBERS We welcomed 94 new members and everyone accepted their bid. A new "go green" initiative required the PNMs to carry water bottles with them instead of using plastic water cups every round. "Recruitment was more of a success than I could have ever imagined. With the support of my sisters, we were able to bring home the most amazing 94 new members to be part of this unbelievable sisterhood. I can't wait to see what this year holds and for these women to learn about all Kappa Delta has to offer!" says VP Membership Lena Weeks '13. CHAPTER RECOGNIZED FOR DEDICATION TO COMMUNITY SERVICE Our third annual bubble bump soccer tournament, Kick It With KD, will be on October 22. After raising more than $36,000 for the Children's Home Society of Tallahassee last year, we have higher expectations for this year's event. Another event our community service team is preparing for is our fall event with the Girl Scouts of America. This year, we are throwing a Halloween party at the KD house and inviting all of the local troops to come dressed in their costumes for games and treats! KD was also recognized by the Children's Home Society of Florida as the Community Partner of the Year. We were honored to be acknowledged by such a life-changing local organization. MEMBERS HOST STELLAR PARENTS WEEKEND Our Parents Weekend was September 30 through October 2, and we enjoyed welcoming our parents to our home and treating them to a game day barbecue and Sunday brunch! This was the first time the new pledge class had a chance to show their families their new home here at Kappa Delta. ALUMNAE SUPPORT BOOSTS CHAPTER MORALE We want to acknowledge the incredible support and presence of alumnae we are so fortunate to have here at Kappa Alpha. Recruitment Advisor Teresa Zontek Finley '78 and Beth Martin Langford '78 were in attendance every day of recruitment week and aided us in bid sessions throughout the week. We also had the House Corporation and Chapter Advisory Board in attendance for Bid Day. We are so fortunate to have guidance from our alumnae sisters during these events! Our Homecoming weekend will be October 14-16 and we invite all alumni to come visit the Kappa Delta house. We are in for a busy fall semester, but it will create a lot of memories and friendships within our home here at Kappa Delta. Football season is a time to celebrate being a Seminole and we would love to have any fellow sisters and 'Noles come visit us at Kappa Delta!
