Kappa Alpha Undergraduates Gain Insight at Chi Omega National Convention W e are back into the swing of things at Kappa Alpha and ready for the great school year that is ahead of us. This summer, I had the opportunity, along with Marisol Garcia '15 and two of our advisors, Courtney Novak Riley '88 and Kelly Camblin Barr '88, to attend Chi Omega's National Convention. We are so excited to implement the things we learned at Convention so our Chapter can continue to grow. Record Number of Members Achieve 4.0 Our scholarship continues to thrive. This year, we had 36 members achieve a 4.0, which is a new record for Kappa Alpha. Another huge achievement for Kappa Alpha is that we have the most members on the Greek Scholarship Advancement Committee with three members: Sam Hubbard '15, Emily Nine '15, and Mary Hastert '16. We are really looking to them to serve as leaders not just in Chi Omega but throughout the entire Greek community. Philanthropic Goals After an extremely successful philanthropy round during recruitment, we have already started planning our events. We recently passed the $50,000 mark for dollars donated to Make-A-Wish Kansas, and we couldn't be more excited to reach $60,000 this year. Kappa Alpha Gains Strength in Numbers From formal recruitment this year, we gained 50 new members, including 10 legacies. Our new member educator, Maddie Jewett '15, said, "To say I am proud of this new member class is a huge understatement. This group of young women is incredibly smart, genuine, compassionate and fun- loving. I can't wait to see how they develop at K-State over the next four years." The leadership this group of women has already shown gives me confidence that Kappa Alpha will continue to flourish in the coming years. Thankful for Alumnae Support As always, we are so grateful for all of the support that we continue to receive from our Advisory Board, Housing Corporation, our new housemother, the national organization, and our parents. We appreciate your endless love and support. Please stop by the Chapter House anytime you are in Manhattan—we would be happy to give you a tour and share our experience with you.
