Our Tradition, Our Key, Our Future 3 love for Kappa Kappa gamma inspires Becky Brantley mcCamey '76 to give Back A s a freshman at Texas Tech University, Becky Brantley McCamey '76 fell in love with being a Kappa and experienced so much joy through the sisterhood; joy that has remained since her time as an undergraduate member. "There's a true bond in Kappa for a lifetime," she said. Her love for Kappa, the unwavering support of her sisters, and the opportunities her KKG membership have given her throughout her life are what inspired Becky to pay it forward and support the capital campaign in an effort to secure a brighter future for the Delta Psi Chapter. Becky and her sisters moved into the lodge from a storefront space when she was a sophomore, and it was an inspirational and motivating experience. "We felt so thankful that Kappa meant enough to the alumnae at the time to raise the money, to take the time to build, and to provide such a gorgeous place for us," she said. "It truly made me want to be the best person and Kappa I could be. That was almost 40 years ago—it's time for an update and a lot more space." Becky hopes that by supporting the capital campaign, she can inspire and motivate the next generation of Delta Psi Kappas to continue supporting the Kappa Kappa Gamma legacy at Texas Tech. Keeping close with Kappa Kappa Gamma, Becky has held multiple positions in the Dallas Alumnae Association, including parliamentarian from 2015-16, president of the association from 2014-15, awards chairman from 2010-13, philanthropy chairman in 2009, tablescapes chairman in 2008, and she was a new member advisor for the Gamma Phi Chapter at Southern Methodist University from 2008-10. She is currently the Reading Is Fundamental chairman for 2016- 17. The skills learned during her time at Delta Psi set her up for success in the real world. She hopes that future generations of Delta Psi Kappas are afforded the same opportunities she received. Becky earned a degree in business administration with a minor in psychology from Texas Tech University. In addition to her volunteer efforts with Kappa Kappa Gamma, Becky is a mother, a manager of real estate and investments, as well as a volunteer in her local community. She also remains close with many of her Delta Psi sisters and even lives within blocks of some of her sisters. In her spare time, Becky enjoys volunteering, reading, art, exercising, and spending time with her friends. She lives in Dallas, Texas, with her husband, Bob, and together they have three sons: Mason (32), Brantley (30), and Marshall (28). If you would like to contact Becky, she can be reached at becky3boys@gmail.com. g rowing up in Lubbock, Heather Halbert Reynolds '98 knew that Kappa Kappa Gamma had a reputation of pledging only well-rounded young women and, after meeting the intelligent, poised, and kind members of Delta Psi during recruitment, she knew without a doubt she wanted to be a part of the sisterhood. "Kappa always felt like home," she said. That feeling of comfort at the Delta Psi lodge and the connection she felt with her sisters is ultimately what motivated Heather to support the Our Key, Our Tradition, Our Future campaign. As an undergraduate member, Heather served as the philanthropy chairman, among other leadership opportunities afforded by her KKG membership. Recruitment, in particular, taught her many valuable life lessons in leadership and beyond. "Although recruitment is an incredible commitment of time and energy, it is also an amazing bonding experience with Kappa sisters," she stated. "It was a great life lesson in hard work, the value of planning and organization, and patience. We learned so much about one another during those long hours." Although she did not realize it at the time, those long hours would set the stage for lifelong friendships and an ongoing admiration for the Kappa Kappa Gamma sisterhood. "It's hard to put into words how much Kappa means to each of us," Heather said. "I wanted to support the Delta Psi capital campaign as a way to show my gratitude for all that Kappa gave me." For those who have not been to Lubbock in a while, or have not made a trip to Greek Circle, Heather believes they will be amazed at the changes that have taken place over the years. Since many of the sorority lodges at Texas Tech are being renovated, she remarked that it's absolutely necessary for Kappa to follow suit in order to remain competitive. As Texas Tech continues to grow in enrollment numbers, our current sisters are in dire need of more space, which will allow Delta Psi the room to grow and remain a top sorority at the University. "Supporting the campaign is a great way to ensure that the Delta Psi Chapter will be just as strong and successful when our daughters pledge someday!" Heather encourages alumnae to consider donating whatever they can to the campaign, as a way to say thank you for all that Kappa gave them. "The friendships and memories that will last a lifetime, the valuable life lessons, the opportunity to gain leadership experience, a home away from home…Kappa is all of these things to each of us." She recommends reaching out to any of the campaign coordinators, house board members, or those active in the alumni association to find out how you, too, can help brighten the future of Delta Psi for generations yet to come. "The new lodge is going to be an exceptional home for Kappas for decades to come," she said. "All Kappas—past, present, and future—will be proud of our presence at Texas Tech!" After graduating from Texas Tech in 2002, Heather joined the iaCONSULTING team and holds the position of vice president of new business development. When she isn't busy working and serving on the Delta Psi House Corporation, Heather enjoys supporting her children, Weston (9) and Halley (8), in their extracurricular activities as well as supporting her husband, Chad, and the high school baseball team he coaches. If you want to reconnect with Heather or find out how you can get involved in supporting the capital campaign, she can be reached at heather@iabenefits.com.
