A very heartfelt thank-you to the 161 Delta Psi alumnae who have so generously contributed to the Our Key, Our Tradition, Our Future campaign. This campaign continues as we near our goal, but we need YOU to help us make it to the finish line!! Every donation is recognized and appreciated as we work our way to our goal! Our Panhellenic neighbors have been tearing down, building new facilities, adding on, and remodeling. Pi Beta Phi, Delta Gamma, and Kappa Alpha Theta have all built new lodges on their lots. Alpha Phi doubled the size of their building. Delta Delta Delta will begin construction on a new facility very soon. Chi Omega and Zeta Tau Alpha both completed extensive remodels and other groups are looking to their future needs. For several years now, many alumnae have worked hard to bring this project to life. When Delta Psi moved into #9 Greek Circle in the late '70s, Greek Circle seemed far away from campus. As the campus moved west toward Greek Circle, we found more and more members were using the lodge for studying, gathering to watch shows like The Bachelor, and hosting other campus groups. Remember when our pledge classes, now called new member classes, were around 30-33 women? For the last several years, the new member classes have averaged between 70-80 women. The New Member class of 2016 is 71 members!! Delta Psi currently has 244 initiated members. So the space and technology requirements for our growing and ever-evolving chapter were no longer sufficient in the old lodge. After recruitment in August of 2015, chapter members and alumnae began moving everything from the lodge into storage. We held a sale of all recyclable materials in the building, and in late fall, after a fun graffiti party, the Delta Psi lodge at #9 Greek Circle was demolished. The lodge served us well for 40 years, and we cherish our wonderful memories of recruitments, initiations, chapter meetings, and Mom's Weekends in the first lodge. Now, we are looking forward to creating many more memories in the second lodge. This is what the Our Key, Our Tradition, Our Future campaign is all about—the future of Delta Psi at Texas Tech. I know that we all want Delta Psi to remain a strong, respected leader on campus. The new lodge will help to secure our heritage for many years to come. I believe that every contribution is an investment in the future of young women, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Texas Tech University. If you have not made a pledge, we urge you to do so. Remember, you can spread your pledge over a five-year period. If your pledge is $5,000 or more, it is tax deductible through the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. Any pledge below $5,000 can be made to the Delta Psi House Corporation. If you have already given to the campaign, I ask that you please reach out to your pledge sisters, your Kappa family, and your Kappa neighbors to encourage them to also pledge their support in creating a brighter future for Delta Psi. Every contribution, large or small, is important to this project. Delta Psi Chapter is strong, our sisterhood is strong, and our leadership is strong. Be a part of this strength by donating to this campaign. If you would like for one of the capital campaign committee members to come to your alumnae meeting, reunion, or just to meet with a few for lunch or coffee, we are ready to travel to you. We believe that once you hear the story, you will be convinced to invest in this project.
