R ecruitment wrapped up in late August, and we are happy to report that we have a fantastic new pledge class of 69 women. The new members are in the midst of completing their eight-week training program, which focuses on Tri Delta values, the purpose, and maintaining a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle in college. This is an exciting week for them in particular because they have their "Big Sister" reveal ceremony as well as their first function at a Royal's baseball game. SPRING SUCCESSES Theta Omega is also eager to share some of our accomplishments from this past spring. We were the only Panhellenic sorority to be nominated for Educational Program of the Year at the Jayhawk Choice Awards, and we increased our GPA from a 3.22 to a 3.35. We were also recognized in all categories at Greek Awards: chapter management, community awareness, leadership and campus engagement, membership development and education, risk reduction, and academics. S everal years ago, the Lawrence alumnae chapter started a new tradition by hosting a coffee at the Theta Omega house. The coffee is typically held the last Saturday before the members move back into the house. A few years ago, Topeka alumnae were added to the invitation list. Once again, we had a good turnout, which included alumnae from KU, K-State, Baker, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Iowa. Additionally, two collegiate members joined the group. The coffee was an opportunity to see the latest improvements at the house, as well as to provide an opportunity to catch up and share memories of our times at Tri Delta. Grace Endacott Brooks '50, Theta Omega pin number 100, talked about being among the first group of women to move to the new Theta Omega house in 1952. Janet Riley '66 shared the time she injured herself while trying to sneak around the house unnoticed during a fraternity serenade. Barbara Boudreau Trouslot '60 reminisced about leaving the Tri Delta house in her wedding dress to get married at Danforth Chapel. Penny Kozeny '73 talked about offering cigarettes during rush, now called recruitment, and being on phone duty, which no longer exists today. Others shared stories about stealing composites and the time there was a Tri Delta party when 17 members ended up at Watson Hospital instead of at the party due to food poisoning. We ended the morning singing Tri Delta songs from over the years, aided by printed song booklets. Casey Gamble '14, a current member of Theta Omega, stated that she can't wait to join an alumnae group wherever she lives after she graduates from KU. Truly, the bonds of Tri Delta remain strong long after leaving the Tri Delta house.
