THE SUNFLOWER Kansas Du alumni P.o. box 1611 lawrence, Kansas 66044 Address service requested Chapter Eternal Alfred F. Gallup '38 passed on to Chapter Eternal on March 26 at the age of 100. He graduated from the KU School of Business in 1938 and joined the United States Army in 1941. In 1942, Al and his college sweetheart, Winifred Hill, married at Lackland Air Base, Texas. Together they raised two daughters. He loved singing in the Lawrence Civic Choir and the First Presbyterian Church choir, participating in Kiwanis and Delta Upsilon, golfing, traveling, and gardening. Hubert M. Dye Jr. '54 passed on to Chapter Eternal on May 13, surrounded by family. He was a former DU president. Upon graduation, he served in the United States Air Force and later earned a master's in divinity from Harvard University and graduated from General Theological Seminary in New York in 1968. He served as a priest in the Episcopal Church for 10 years and then became a priest in the Orthodox Church, where he served a variety of parishes for more than 20 years. E. Allen Kelley '54 passed on to Chapter Eternal on August 13 at the age of 83. He played men's basketball for the Jayhawks on the freshman squad in 1951 and the varsity squad from 1952-54. He was a member of the 1952 team that won the NCAA National Championship. At Kansas, Al made All-Big Seven in 1953 and 1954. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was selected to compete in the 1960 Olympics. Al worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for four and a half decades and retired in 1999. He was elected to the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame, the National Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., and the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame. Alumni News Lee R. Bittenbender, M.D. '68 still practices dermatology and really enjoys it. He has no plans to retire anytime soon. Last summer he and his wife, Sandy, hiked the mountains in northern Italy and the Mustang area in Nepal. Lee and Sandy live in Lawrence, Kan.
