p. 3 Sigma Chi T he Gamma Delta Chapter had an incredibly successful 2015-16 year, highlighted by receiving awards, including the J. Dwight Peterson Significant Chapter Award, Outstanding House Corporation Award, renewed status as a Thomas Cowan Bell Chapter, and status as one of 29 chapters to contribute more than $20,000 to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. We look forward to the introduction of our new pledge program, Preparation for Brotherhood, this fall with our new pledge class. Brothers Implement New Pledge Program Preparation for Brotherhood is one of our biggest focuses this fall. Sigma Chi Headquarters instituted the new eight-week program to all chapters for the upcoming school year. The program will ensure that every Sigma Chi pledge receives the same comprehensive education to prepare him to join our brotherhood. We have a great incoming pledge class and are excited to roll out the new program, entering a new era of education within our Fraternity. Gamma Delta Secures Competitive GPA Last spring, we had one of our best academic semesters in recent memory, achieving a 3.2512 Chapter GPA, which ranked sixth out of 23 IFC fraternities. Our freshman pledge class attained a 3.2791 overall GPA, ranking fourth among IFC fraternities. Seventeen brothers achieved a 4.0 GPA this semester and have done a great job providing motivation for brothers to attain high academic success. By instituting new bylaws and raising academic expectations, we are confident that we will continue to improve upon a great academic semester. Chapter Welcomes 34 New Members Summer recruitment was another great accomplishment for Gamma Delta, recruiting 34 great young men from Oklahoma, Texas, and across the nation. For the first time in several years, we utilized a recruitment apartment for the Tulsa area and it proved to be very successful in recruiting an exemplary pledge class. Our recruitment chairmen in both Oklahoma and Texas did a great job running an efficient recruitment program, free of any violations or concerns. Undergraduates Donate More Than $30,000 in Philanthropic Efforts Derby Days 2016 was a very successful event and we contributed more than $30,000 to Huntsman Cancer Institute, ranking in the top 10 of all Sigma Chi Chapters. Thank you to all the gracious donations we received for Derby Days and we look forward to another successful philanthropic year. We are paired with the women of Zeta Tau Alpha for Homecoming this year and look forward to another year of supporting America's Greatest Homecoming Celebration. Thank You, Alumni, for Making Our Chapter One of the Best I cannot stress enough the positivity regarding the state of our Chapter. After instituting a strict drug test policy over the past two academic years, the residual effects have been phenomenal. The amount of support and commitment from alumni is truly remarkable and shows us why commitment to the Fraternity throughout life is so important. If you are ever in the area, I encourage you to stop by the house and connect with the active Chapter. We always enjoy hearing stories of the past and sharing visions for the future. On behalf of Gamma Delta, we hope to see you soon.
