National Convention and Officer Academy Boost Enthusiasm for Fall Semester S pring 2016 was a time full of excitement with another memorable semester for the members and leaders of Alpha Delta! The ladies of our newly elected executive committee jumped head first into the acquired duties with lots of their own fresh ideas and excitement. Phi Mu Headquarters hosted the inagural Officer Academy in February in Atlanta, where five other officers and I met and shared ideas with leaders of Phi Mu chapters across the country. This event was very exciting for us as we came back to Oxford ready to share with the rest of the Chapter. ALPHA DELTA PHILANTHROPY RECOGNIZED AT CONVENTION In addition to the Officer Academy, Chapter Advisor Anne Cofer '03, Treasurer Lindsey Dunn '14, DHRP Phaedra Craig '14, and I were fortunate to attend PHI TOWN, Phi Mu's 54th Annual Convention in Chicago! National Convention was a special event as we re-elected our national president, adopted the newest version of fraternity bylaws, and took a boat tour around the city with friends we met at Officer Academy. It was no secret that Alpha Delta has experienced a time of philanthropic success as we were recognized for having the highest number of total community service hours among all Phi Mu chapters. We also won Phi Mu Foundation's M3 Challenge for the second year in a row, donating more than $17,000 for the Foundation. Additionally, our annual spring fundraiser, Bonnamu, planned by Philanthropy Chairman Savannah Odum '13, was a huge success. The event raised record funds for our Children's Miracle Network Hospital, Le Bonheur. We are so proud of all of our members for the contributions and dedication they make to our philanthropy, and we hope to continue this momentum. KITCHEN UPDATES COMPLETED During the summer, the Alpha Delta House Corporation worked diligently as they continued making improvements to the Chapter House after their last big project with the gorgeous bathrooms! Projects included updating the kitchen, fresh paint in the bedrooms, new cushions for the chairs on the sundeck, a new presidential office, and some exciting new furniture that revamped the old study room. Bringing in fresh new appliances and creating a more efficient work space was at the top of the list for the revamped kitchen area that our beloved staff are so excited to use this semester! We are so thankful for the Alpha Delta House Corporation, and, as always, are excited to see more improvements as they are made in the future! RECRUITMENT BEGINS OCTOBER 9 As the fall semester is now underway, I can assure you the excitement doesn't stop as we continue celebrating Alpha Delta! We are beyond ecstatic to host both the newly elected Foundation president and past national president, Kris Bridges, Delta Nu, and current national president Beth Monnin, Rho, as they revisit us in September to host a reception honoring our M3 Challenge win the past two years! Additionally, we are preparing for formal recruitment, which will begin October 9 and continue until Bid Day on October 16. Alpha Delta is so excited to meet our newest members and is working tirelessly to adjust to the new no-frills recruitment, which was newly implemented by Panhellenic. Recruitment Chairman Mary Margaret Hyer '14 and her recruitment team are expecting another successful recruitment this fall! We appreciate your prayers and support throughout this busy semester. I encourage you to look out for information regarding ways to stay involved and support our Chapter as we are thinking of you in our planning of some events this semester, including an open house hosted by the Alpha Delta House Corporation, Bid Day, initiation, and Homecoming! Of course, please feel free to contact me if you'd like to stop in for a visit at a different time; I would be more than happy to help you if we can! We hope to see you this fall and Go Rebs!
