p. 3 Phi DelTa TheTa N ot only do I consider myself a lucky man for joining Phi Delta Theta, but I find myself incredibly lucky to be an active member of Indiana Zeta in what could be considered historic times for the Chapter. This past year, Indiana Zeta rose to the top one-third of fraternities in academics, witnessed numerous members have career years in athletics, and received several awards on the University and national level. Brothers Awarded for Outstanding Leadership Chris Johnston '83 was nominated for Chapter Advisor of the Year by Order of Omega. Jack Forde '16 and Nick Thompson '16 were both inducted into the Greek Hall of Fame, which is a fitting accomplishment for two men who were great leaders during their time at DePauw. In addition, Andrew Quinn '17 and John Daseke '17 were the recipients of the 2016 Lund Scholarship. Congratulations! Members Excel in Athletics If you attended any DePauw male sport this year, there's a good chance you saw a brother participating and excelling. Following the spring recruitment class, Indiana Zeta had at least one active member on the men's soccer, lacrosse, football, baseball, swimming, track and field, and tennis teams. DePauw Phis excelled in their respective sports, especially in spring athletics. Riley Futterknecht '17 was selected for the all-region and all-conference first teams for baseball, while Tate Stewart '17 was selected second team all-conference. Grant Skipper '17 helped lead the lacrosse team to a school record in conference wins and topped it off with all-conference honorable mention. The tennis duo of Alec Kaczkowski '16 and Dan Rodefeld '17 was named first team all-conference and Pat Farrell '17 was named second team all-conference. Undergraduate Raises More Than $4,000 for American Diabetes Association Hunter Sego '19 is one of the chapter's many athletes, but he goes to show that the men of Indiana Zeta are not one-dimensional. Juggling school, the Phikeia education process, and spring football, Hunter still found time to raise more than $4,000 for the American Diabetes Association (ADA). His Undergraduates Awarded Lund Scholarships John Daseke '17 and Andrew Quinn '17 were named Albert L. Lund '48 Scholars for the 2016-17 academic year for their involvement on campus and in the community. The Lund Scholars, who will receive $6,000 each, were announced at Phi Delta Theta's annual awards dinner. Brother Lund came to DePauw as a Rector Scholar, an award that made his college education possible. After a successful career in business, 51 years after he graduated from DePauw, Lund established the scholarship so future generations of students could enjoy the same opportunities that he was afforded. Lund sadly passed away in 2003. Since its inception, the Lund program has awarded a total of 49 scholarships. Congratulations, John and Andrew! Indiana Zeta Achieves Major Milestones, Receives Local and National Honors Pete Stuart '14, Doug Bannon '19, Gino Castellini '19, Conner Reed '18, and Whole Man Scholar recipient Mitch Davis '18 attend the 2016 summer leadership training at Phi Delta Theta Grand Headquarters in Oxford. hard work paid off as he was announced the winner of the ADA Kiss-a-Pig for Indianapolis, and on top of that earned himself a trip to the White House to present and network with other athletes and leaders living with diabetes. Chapter Welcomes Record-High Pledge Class With so many brothers doing incredible things, it makes serving as Chapter president even more of an honor than it already is. There is no doubt in my mind that Indiana Zeta is experiencing a time never seen before. Membership hit an all-time high of 105 brothers, with a 32-man pledge class that finished with the second-best GPA for men's fraternities. We did not simply take 32 men to increase our membership; we took 32 men who are currently transmitting the Fraternity better than it was transmitted to them. Thank You, Alumni, for Making Our Chapter One of the Best To all of the alumni who have helped make this Chapter the historic, strong Chapter that I am proud to be a member of for life, and on behalf of the active Chapter, I want to thank you for your continued support. Feel free to stop by the house at any time. Active members would love to talk to alumni about all the great things happening on a daily basis at 446 Anderson Street. Yours in the Bond, James Brashaber '17 Chapter President The class of 2016 gathers at DePauw's graduation ceremony.
