Main - Quartzsite (one block east of Family Dollar) 928-927-6551 DYSFUNCTIONAL DEMAGOGUERY I write this letter out of deep con- cern about the lack of leadership from our 4th district congressman. He is most infatuated with paint- ing self-portraits that depict him as the sole answer to our prob- lems. He prides himself on thump- ing his chest and telling us about all he has done for us, and yet our district, with any serious examina- tion, is worse off today than it was before he took office. One of the many problems that our incumbent has sworn to fix is the issue of border security. He has no problem returning to the district that he represents (but doesn't live in) to proudly inform us that he is in fact "leading-the- charge" on this specific issue. He seems to be so busy fighting to appear as the champion of this problem, that the notion of work- ing with his colleagues to actually secure the border has been long- forgotten. It appears that, to him, being a representative in Washington has become an elaborate joke that is not about how he can best work with his colleagues and local lead- ers to represent his constituents, but rather it has turned into a game of how best to manipulate the image of competence that his constituents would like him to be. One of my personal heroes is the British Statesman, William Wilber- force. Wilberforce led the charge in Great Britain to eradicate the slave trade, by working with his col- leagues in Parliament. Wilberforce spent the better years of his life championing this noble cause by winning-over his contemporaries, instead of attempting to run them over. And Wilberforce eradicated slavery without causing a war. Throughout history, his method of leadership is the one that has brought about the most effective change. We need to replace the current dysfunctional demagoguery and substitute it with functional leader- ship in order to secure our border and to effectively address the im- portant issues to CD4, Arizona, and the nation as a whole. With that in mind, I humbly ask for your vote in the ongoing Republi- can primary. Respectfully, Ray Strauss Candidate for Arizona's Fourth Congressional District The Quartzsite Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism will hold a Networking Breakfast Thursday, August 18th at Mountain Quail Cafe.
