Vendors from a variety of businesses and organizations both local and regional are invited to participate. Vendors must complete the vendor application located on the fair's official website, www.CumberlandCountyFair.org. Completed applications can also be mailed to Cumberland County Fair, P.O. Cumberland County Fair Seeking Vendors Two local students represented the Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District at the 2016 Resource Conservation Workshop held June 26 – July 1 at N.C. State University. Jakob Kirk, a rising senior at Grays Creek High School, and Tara Owen, a rising senior at Cape Fear High School, each received $575 from the Cumberland Soil and Water Conservation District to attend the weeklong workshop, which is designed to expose students to career opportunities in natural resources management. The workshop included hands-on participation in a wide range of conservation topics, including a visit to a water treatment plant and an Educational State Forest; participation in university conservation projects and meetings with representatives from natural resource management agencies. The sponsorships paid for registration, lodging, food and travel expenses. Kirk is the son of Georgia and Frederick Kirk of Hope Mills. Owen is the daughter of Joan and Ted Owen Jr. of Stedman. The Soil and Water District offers free technical assistance to landowners in the county with land management, drainage, wetlands, soils information, best management practices and other land resource problems. Funds Available To Help With Cooling Needs Qualifying residents my receive Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) funds to help individuals and families who are experiencing or are in danger of experiencing a health emergency and need assistance with cooling needs. The CIP program is administered by the Cumberland County Department of Social Services, but applications must be made through the Salvation Army at 1047 Southern Ave. in Fayetteville from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Limited funds are available and households are served on a first-come, first- serve basis. If an applicant is approved, funds are paid directly to the utility provider. Individuals who apply for CIP must provide picture ID for head of household, Social Security numbers for all household members and verification of an energy-related crisis and verification of income. The household meets income eligibility if the total household income is equal to or less than 150 percent of the current poverty level.
