Chow Down Downtown, prev iously k nown as the Small Plate Crawl, will t ake place at par ticipating rest aurant s on Hay, Per- son and Gillespie street s June 8-10. The event is hosted by the Downtown A lliance and The Downtown Fayet tev ille Rest aurant Association and includes the following par- ticipating rest aurant s: • Blue Moon Cafe (310 Hay St .) • Circa 1800 (108 Person St .) • Pierro's It alian Bistro (217 Hay St .) • Sherefé (114 Gillespie St .) • Taste of West Africa (107 Person St .) • The Coffee Cup (108 Hay St .) • The Sweet Palet te (101 Person St .) • The Wine Café (108 Hay St .) • Rude Awakening (227 Hay St .) "It is still the small plate crawl," said Anthony Jack son, owner of Circa 1800. " We tr y to get people downtown to sample the rest au- rant s and get a t aste of what we offer, get a t aste of what we do dif- ferently than chain rest aurant s." Dishes will be represent ative of what the locally-owned rest au- rant s offer, Jack son said. "If you v isit three rest aurant s over the three days, you are entered into the drawing for prizes," he said. Diners are inv ited to stop in the par ticipating rest aurant s and tr y a small plate ranging from $5-10. The dishes include entrees, des- ser t s and some drink s. As diners sample, they get their "passpor t " st amped. Af ter at least three plates, diners are entered to win one of several prizes. Each additional plate means an additional entr y into the drawing. Angie Malave, owner of The Wine Café and The Coffee Cup on Hay Street, said she enjoys par ticipating in the event because it brings new people downtown. " We g et a lot of new people with the event," Malave said. "They come for the uniqueness, the fact that they can tr y smaller bites. It is a chance to bring friends and experience more than just dinner." Passpor t s for Chow Down Downtown are available at each par tici- pating rest aurant . The grand prize is an overnight cabin with wine t asting at Lu Mil Vineyard. Other prizes include a $25 gif t cer tif icate from J&M Vapors, a $25 gif t cer tif icate from Southern A lternative and a gif t basket from Downtown shops.
