Dog social a success in the park The inaugural Dog Bone Social was held Sat- urday at Diamond Park in Red Bluff. The free event, hosted by Shipwrecked Farms Relief Efforts, was formed in the hopes of building public awareness of differ- ent sports and events they and they canine compan- ions can participate in. Several profession train- ers volunteered their time to the event, offering advice, giving demonstra- tions and assessing dogs for likeliness to excel in specific activities. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 – Daily News 5A Well Being Fair and Sidewalk Sale draws crowds downtown Dragon Crest dog train- ing with Donna Mecili did a demonstration of obedi- ence with her black Ger- man shepherds. Gary Watts with Envision dog training tested dogs for tracking and helped sev- eral owners with prob- lem-solving tips. Foxfire Agility and Riverdogs Agility offered demon- strations with their own dogs, several of which had been rescued from shelters and showed par- ticipants how to start their dogs over obstacles, such as jumps and tun- nels. Custom meat shop re-opens in RB location Daily News photo by Chip Thompson Dozens of merchants moved outside Saturday in Downtown Red Bluff for the Well Being Fair and Sidewalk Sale, sponsored by the Downtown Red Bluff Business Association and the Center for Mind, Body and Spirit. Each merchant offered special discounts for the day and some offered activities, such as panning for gold and searching with a metal detector at the Gold Exchange on Walnut Street. Planned giving seminar Mercy Foundation North is offering a free Planned Giv- ing – Estate Planning Seminar 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thurs- day, June 14 at the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital, Coyne Center. Lunch will be provided. The program will be presented by Todd Smith, chief operating officer for the hospital; Bill Altavilla, Mercy Foundation North Planned Giving specialist, and Cheryl Forbes, Esq., Law Office of Cheryl A.
