I hope you enjoy the relaunched Washington Alpha Delt! By virtually any measure, our chapter is firing on all cylinders. The chapter is thriving and the undergraduates recently concluded a spring recruitment and subsequent initiation that brought us seven additional Alpha Delts, bringing us to 88 undergraduate members. The chapter is in good financial standing and our highly engaged alumni board, containing members from the past five decades, has been meeting at the chapter house monthly. Most importantly, our undergraduate members have represented Alpha Delta Phi with distinction in the Greek system and on campus (see the article on the Bubble Bash on page 2). As one recent example, the Washington Chapter was once again in the top three of 32 fraternities in academics with 50% of our members on the Dean's List. Since relaunching the Washington Chapter in 2008, we've successfully attracted several outstanding classes of Alpha Delts. Through the work of our alumni board, we've been keeping up with the usual chapter house repairs, but the simple fact is that our physical plant is not competitive. Many other UW fraternities have had significant renovations (some have had two) since the last major addition to the Washington Chapter in 1970. The University of Washington has also invested heavily in new student accommodations complete with computer-friendly study areas, 24-hour stores, healthy dining, and gyms. We have a culture and tradition that makes Alpha Delta Phi an incredible place, but the high-quality living space that most of our alumni experienced no longer exists. To continue to attract the very best Alpha Delts and allow them to have an outstanding collegiate experience, we need to upgrade our facility. We all want to solidify Alpha Delt's strong return to campus to secure our future. This process is not without challenges and the alumni board will continue to seek alumni support from across the nation. Our efforts will only be successful if every alumnus participates, whether it is with time, talent, or treasure. We welcome your questions, input, and involvement as we continue the momentum of this new era of Washington Chapter. So that we can ensure you receive the latest information, please update your contact information and help us find lost alumni by going to www. alphadeltaphi.org.
