T his semester, we placed a heavy emphasis on sustaining our strong sisterhood. We implemented sister of the week, recognizing members who positively contribute to the chapter. We also highlighted the many accomplishments of our senior members, such as admission to graduate programs and job offers. Our inclusive sisterhood has been exemplified by impromptu game nights and even an unexpected movie night on the sun deck. This year, in an effort to further expand our membership, our chapter participated in continuous open bidding and informal recruitment. We hosted three main events: a hot chocolate bar, a game night to get to know active sisters, and bowling in the Illini Union. We were deeply pleased with the outcome, as we recruited and initiated nine women into our chapter. During Mom's Weekend, members and their families participated in a series of events and activities at the chapter house, including lunch, a dessert bar, a silent auction, and a trunk show. We loved getting to meet each other's moms and saw an amazing turnout. Families donated baskets for the silent auction, raising $525 for our scholarship fund. We are excited to grant this money to some of our members and hope that we continue to raise more money in future years. We hosted our spring philanthropy, Strike Out Pediatric AIDS, again this spring. Members of the Greek community participated in a slip-n-slide wiffle ball tournament to raise both money and awareness for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. We also hosted a ballpark-themed dinner, complete with hot dogs, french fries, popcorn, and cotton candy. We loved seeing the community come together for our special cause. The sisters are excited to see alumnae during Homecoming on October 29!
