This summer, House Corporation will be hard at work making many updates to our beautiful chapter house. There are many projects planned, including new furniture and artwork in the living room, updating the first-floor powder room area, and extensive tuck-pointing work to the exterior of the chapter house. A new sofa will be purchased for the Moyer Foyer, (dedicated in memory of alumna Dorothy Blumenfeld Moyer) made possible by alumnae donations to the annual campaign. We are so grateful for all of the generous donations from our alumnae over the past year. Our ability to do this for the Moy Foy shows how your contributions do have a positive effect in the daily lives of our chapter members. We would love to share your memories from your time as a Mu Chapter collegian in future newsletters, so please share them with us, along with your updates! House Director Holly Scheeringa Umland '05 received the sketch of the chapter house from the university archives. It was featured in May of 1927 alumni news captioned "With a front terrace of antique wrought ironwork and a long sloping gable over the front entrance, is being built by Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority at the southeast corner of Third and Daniel streets, Champaign, across from the Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity house now under construction and directly north of Bungalow court. The house, which is being constructed of red rough brick with stone, stucco and timber trimmings, will cost $65,000, and will be ready for occupancy next fall. It will have three floors, two dormitories and is planned to accommodate 40 girls. The dining room will have a large fireplace and a tile floor." Please mark your calendars for Mu Chapter's alumnae Homecoming event on Saturday, October 29, prior to the Illini vs. Minnesota football game. We hope to see many of you there and welcome you home to the chapter house! Additional details will be provided closer to the date. Mu chapter continues to see great success, and we have an amazing group of collegiate members!
