A former Corning High School student is this year's youngest graduate of the Butte College Class of 2012. Those who have lived in Corning long enough might remember Derek King and his musical talents, most notably when he played guitar at school events and in parades down Solano Street. King's family had moved to Chico back in January 2009, Derek King, at the far right. half-way through his freshman year at Corning High School. After a year and a half of attending Chico High School, King took and passed the California High School Profi- ciency Exam so that he could begin attending Butte College two full years before he would normally graduate from High School. Emblem convention Red Bluff Emblem club members played an active part in the annual convention of the California-Nevada- Hawaii state association of Emblem clubs.
