This summer, there are even more changes planned as Alpha Mu officially kicks off our capital campaign - 603 Kentucky, Forever Home. We are lucky to have a wonderful lot and a home with great bones, parts of which date back to 1922. This campaign seeks to retain all the history and beauty of our beloved 603, while extending the living capacity to more than 100 beds. An addition will be built, filling the interior courtyard on all four floors with suite-style living spaces. An additional bump- out will be added to the northeast corner for more bedrooms and newly expanded laundry facilities and study space. Ultimately, these renovations will allow us to grow our capacity, renovate every living area, and add updated structural and safety features, to become one of the largest live-in sororities on campus! Construction will begin this summer and last until fall 2017, but amazingly, will still allow us to continue business as usual! Our Construction Committee has designed a uniquely phased plan that allows us to house 52 women for the entire year, host meetings and gatherings for all members, and still use our own facility for Recruitment. This is very different from how other sororities at MU are approaching their building plans. While this means our construction will take a bit longer, we felt the advantages of being able to use the house, provide opportunities to live-in, and provide a place to conduct Recruitment far outweighed the alternatives. Another high priority goal of our building plan is a commitment to maintaining the house's best-known historic features—the parquet floor in the foyer, the wood paneling in the hunting room, the kite light out front, and more. We look forward to keeping you informed as the construction progresses! In other news, our dear Facility Director and Housemother, Paula Gee, will be retiring this spring after four years of service to Alpha Mu. Her dedication to our chapter and members will be missed, but we know she'll remain involved through her sister, Patty Gee Nicholson '76, and the relationships she's built with so many women. We have already hired a new Housemother for next year and look forward to introducing her to you! We welcome you to stop by again this fall for football tailgates, to check on our progress, or to just say hello! Each football Saturday (schedule on page 4), we'll have refreshments on the patio, or in the dining room during colder weather. Homecoming is October 22 and we hope to welcome an even bigger crowd than last year for Friday night's house decorations and Saturday's game. On behalf of the Facility Corporation Board, our accomplished collegians, and our beloved alumnae, we hope to see you back soon at our forever home on Kentucky Boulevard.
