There's long been a connection
between art and wine, and in the
last few years, a new type of event
has emerged that marries the two.
Held in restaurants and bars across
the North Bay, "paint-and-sip"
gatherings are a cross between art
class and happy hour. Participants
receive step-by-step instruction
from local artists, while sipping
wine in an atmosphere that's equal
parts educational and social.
Art supplies are provided, and
wine is available for purchase. After
a couple hours, everyone leaves with their own version of the
featured painting.
"You don't have to be an artist. Some participants have never paint-
ed before, and they can just relax
and have a couple drinks," said Lisa
Pedrani, an instructor for Paint Nite.
"Sometimes you go to an art studio
and get intimidated because there
are some really good artists there.
Here, everyone's comfortable and
everyone helps each other."
With three major paint-and-sip
companies offering events in the
North Bay, it's easy to find a class
near you:

while channeling their inner artists, so they began hosting paint-and-
