She has four children: Carolyn, Vincent, Greg, and Jane Ellen. Mary Jane's great-grandchildren live nearby, which is a big plus. She misses the Denver Sigma Kappas, but doesn't drive to Denver from Fort Collins anymore. Alyce Fawkes Mason '48 still gets together for lunch with some of her pledge sisters, Joyce Boucher '48, Mary Lou Akright '48, Ruthie Rader '48, Joanne Riordan '48, and Areta Garden '48, when its birthday time. They met on a blind date during their first week at KU. They live in Topeka, Kan. Mary Poe Smith '55 is very busy with church, the town's senior center, and teenage grandchildren. She's on the fellowship committee, card ministry, and knitting ministry at church. Mary Fran does birthday cards and cupcakes for members of her exercise class at the senior center. She is very proud of her grandchildren, both of whom are honor students and play in their school orchestras. Mary Fran lives in Port Angeles, Wash. Cheryl Frazee Burdette '58 and her husband, Ken, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on July 29, 2015. Their daughter, Evin, turned 46 in September. She and her husband, Mike, moved to Colorado three years ago so they have a beautiful state for Cheryl and Ken to visit. Evin is president of the corporation board of Gamma Phi Beta at the University of Denver. Carol Hume Davis '58 enjoys retirement in sunny Florida. She participates in volunteer work through church, choral singing, and abstract water color painting. Norma Smith Pettijohn '58 reports that retirement is wonderful, but she is also very happy that she gets called to be a substitute organist at church. "It's great to spend more time enjoying my Colorado condo with more free time." Norma and her husband, Ronald, live in Topeka and have two daughters, Kathy and Sharon. She is a human resources generalist for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Business Unit and handles human resources for retail shops, taverns, and hotels in Colonial Williamsburg. Susan Prost Thiess '70 has two sons, one of whom is married and is a lawyer in Washington, D.C. The other is a newly graduated biomedical engineer who started work on a Ph.D. last fall in complex systems sciences in Portland, Ore.
