Renfro originally planned on staying until May 6th, but agreed to stay "a bit longer" to help in the hiring process of the new Chief. Ren- fro announced he wants to spend more time with family in the Phoenix area, while his son is in the final years of high school. Renfro said he is proud of the improvement of the department since he took over on January 1, 2015. His law enforcement career began with Arizona Dept. of Public Safety (DPS) in 1987. Chief Renfro honorably served with DPS for over 23 years be- fore retiring in 2010. He was originally hired as Interim Police Chief, but was appointed permanent in July, 2015.
