ΣΦΕ The SigEp Seminole FLORIDA EPSILON s FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY s SIGMA PHI EPSILON Spring 2016 INSIDE: Alumnus Spotlight 2 s Florida Epsilon Member Elected to Student Body 2 s Chapter Report 3 (Continued on page 4) W e just finished our first semester as a fully chartered Chapter in Sigma Phi Epsilon! It was a long road, but it's great to be back. Our undergraduate brothers are excited to have earned this charter and they are eager to rebuild connections with our strong alumni base. You will be seeing more communications and events from the AVC and undergradu- ates in the near future. If you have a son or know of a young man enrolling at FSU who is inter- ested in SigEp or Greek life in general, please reach out to me or Com- munications Chairman Casey Davis '17 at cjd13j@my.fsu.edu and give us their name and contact information. We want to give our legacies and other prospects the opportunity to learn about the SipEp experience. Our next big step to fortify SigEp at FSU is a house to call our own. While the men have done an amazing job earning respect and accolades while recolonizing our Chapter, we must find a home for our red door to en- sure SigEp's long-term success at FSU. The need to meet the demands of today's students has become prevalent throughout the Greek community, and the AVC looks forward to developing plans for securing a permanent Chapter House. With the help of input from our alumni, the AVC has been working diligently to find the best housing option available, whether in Heritage Grove or on campus. More information from their work will fol- low in the coming months. The SigEp house was always the pride and joy of our SigEp experience and we hope you will get involved in any way you can to make this a reality for Florida Epsilon again. There will be many ways to contribute and I hope we can all reconnect as brothers along the way. Turn to page 3 to read about what our undergraduates are up to! F our square on the back porch, blaring mu- sic on the jukebox, cooking on the grill, and spring break trips to Panama City Beach are just a few of the moments that provided the ultimate college experience for Tom Bell '76. "Many great friendships were born and the men I sur- rounded myself with were like a second family to me. I'm thankful to have brothers who supported me in all aspects of my life and provided me with memories that have lasted a lifetime." Reminiscing on a Lifetime of Friendship Tom Bell '76 Attributes Success to Fraternal Bonds SigEp not only allowed members to become in- volved socially, but also professionally, and Tom wasted no time getting involved in the Frater- nity. As chaplain, social director, vice president, and song chairman, Tom developed invaluable life skills that impacted his professional endeav- ors after graduating. "The most critical lessons I learned during my time in Florida Epsilon were to surround yourself with positive, successful people, quickly forget the losses and exagger- ate the wins, and pursue what you're passion- ate about in life," he says. "These have played a major role in the success I've had over the years, and it is my hope that current and future gen- erations of SigEps will have as rewarding of an experience in the Chapter as I did." As an alumnus, Tom maintains connections with Florida Epsilon brothers. Last fall, Tom had the opportunity to reunite with Jorge Allen '75, Bruce Johnson '76, Andy Binns '76, Bill Hedge '77, Mike Abell '77, and Steve Norris '77 in Boston for FSU's football game against Boston College. Tom and his brothers also took advantage of touring various sites in Boston and sampled many of the city's best restaurants and taverns. Tom encourages alumni to rekindle old friendships and stay involved with the Chapter.
