i i i i i i 4 Lyre Notes I am truly honored to be given the opportunity to connect with you and relay the recent accomplishments and triumphs of the women of the Alpha Nu chapter. The past few months have been a whirlwind of passionate hard work and unforgettable fun, and I fully anticipate that this semester will only continue that trend! STRONG ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT A PRIORITY AT ALPHA CHI OMEGA The women of Alpha Nu continued the chapter's legacy of academic achievement by attaining a 3.384 grade point average for the past semester, which I am proud to say included 24 women with a 4.0. Our newest members made us especially proud by ranking fourth out of 15 new member classes. SUCCESSFUL PHILANTHROPIC ENDEAVORS Another area in which the chapter excelled was raising money for True North shelter—a cause extremely near to our hearts. Our main two events were Desserts and Pies with Alpha Chis and the Volley Against Violence volleyball tournament, which together raised nearly $16,000. ALPHA NU BOASTS 2ND-PLACE FINISH AT HOMECOMING 2015 Perhaps our most high-profile achievement in recent months was the honor of receiving second place overall in Mizzou's 104th Homecoming. Alpha Nu chapter was paired with Delta Chi and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternities during fall 2015, who were indispensable to our success. We were assigned the theme of "fisherman" under the umbrella theme of Truman Goes to Work and had a great time at the event. MEMBER ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF MIZZOU PANHELLENIC ASSOCIATION One sister in particular, Amanda Farrer '13, made us especially proud recently by being elected as the president of Mizzou's Panhellenic Association for 2016. We are all confident that no one could be better suited for the position and wish her success in all her endeavors! ALUMNAE SUPPORT ESSENTIAL FOR CHAPTER SUCCESS Thank you for everything that you do, and please feel free to stop by the chapter house at any time. Nothing would make us happier than getting better acquainted with you and to share our experiences with you! Alpha Chi needs your help to identify the best possible new members through recommendation forms. Last year, Alpha Chi Omega Headquarters introduced a new, electronic process for recommendations. The new process was well received by both the chapters and alumnae. One of the benefits of the electronic process is that alumnae who submit a recommendation can verify online that the chapter received it. Alumnae are encouraged to review the instructions for submitting a recommendation available at alphachiomega.org, then click on Recommend a Member. Recommendation forms are a wonderful way for the chapter to learn about potential new members in advance. However, they do not guarantee an invitation to additional rounds of formal recruitment or a bid from the chapter. Formal recruitment at Mizzou will be held mid-August 2016. We ask that all recommendations be submitted no later than August 1. In 2014 and 2015, nearly 2,000 women participated, so recommendations are needed to differentiate the best candidates. Questions about formal recruitment at Mizzou can be sent to Recruitment Advisor Patti Knopke Wagner '03 at pattiswagner@gmail.com or (314) 302-4371.
