T his past summer, we completely renovated the kitchenette. This space is one that came up as a priority when we surveyed the chapter to find out what they felt were the areas in the house in greatest need of renovation. We rearranged the room for better traffic flow, adding two French doors into the dining room. A serving line along one wall was created with built-in hot and cold tables. There is an island in the center of the space with task lighting above, hard surface granite-like countertops, and new cabinets. The dirty dish area was moved from a corner of the dining room into a corner of the kitchenette. A space was created for an under- counter refrigerator and freezer for student use that will be added at a later date. The walls were finished with a soft buttery yellow vinyl wall covering; new lighting was added as well as new dark wood cabinets. We have received rave reviews for the kitchenette. Now onward to the new dining room! Loyally in Theta, Judy Bernet Evans '64 Vice President, Facility Corporation Board jbernetevans@gmail.com Plaque Donated to 607 Russell Street N ancy Hitch Swearingen '58 attended the centennial celebration last May and enjoyed catching up with her Theta sisters. When she returned home to Arizona, she realized that the plaque pictured to the right, which had hung in her home for years, would be a nice addition to 607 Russell Street. Nancy's mother, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Hitch '26, and her husband had retired to Lafayette. The two were involved with both Theta and Sigma Chi, so Nancy had a lot of connections to Theta and Purdue. We are delighted that the plaque that Nancy treasured for over 50 years will now hang at 607 Russell Street, a wonderful link to Alpha Chi's past and to the bonds of friendship formed there. The Alpha Chi Chapter has had many cheerleaders in the house over the years. In our fall issue of The Kite, we featured a photo at the Centennial Gala of eight cheerleaders from the '40s, '50s and '60s. The 2015 Purdue Homecoming game was also a cheerleaders reunion. Among the Alpha Chi cheerleaders who attended were Margaret Grein Grant '46, Betsy Pickle Schueth '82, Belinda Cook Nelson '81, Jennifer Fritz Koerting '84, and Carly Bailey '14. The undergraduates enjoy the renovated kitchenette. Kitchenette Renovations a Great Success
