Delta Gamma page 3 T he spring semester is off to a great start for Alpha Upsilon, and we look forward to what's still to come. The new Chapter Management Team is excited and motivated to continue to improve the chapter and create a brighter future for our sisters. EMPHASIS ON STRONG ACADEMICS Our chapter GPA improved from 3.433 to 3.467, ranking us fourth-place among all Panhellenic chapters and above the Panhellenic GPA of 3.443 as well as the undergraduate women's GPA of 3.360. Director of Scholarship Sam Morgan '15 said, "Our study hours system is truly beneficial for women in the chapter. It helps them get into a routine and improve their study habits." FOCUSED ON COMMUNITY OUTREACH Alpha Upsilon has continued to build relationships with local sight organizations, such as Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind and the Meadows Museum, as well as created new opportunities with DG alumnae. We held a fundraiser at a local clothing store and raised more than $300. We also won a local spinning studio's Greek competition and will be awarded $500 to donate to Service for Sight. Vice President of Foundation Kelsey O'Leary '14 said, "Our chapter is actively looking for new and exciting ways to help the community and convey our spirit of sisterhood to those we serve." ALPHA UPSILON SISTERHOOD CONTINUES TO GROW We completed formal recruitment in January and welcomed 53 new members to Delta Gamma, including nine legacies. Vice President of Member Education Lauren Zabaleta '14 said, "The new members have shown a great deal of promise during their new member period, and we really enjoyed initiating them into the sisterhood in March." ACTIVES MOTIVATED TO "DO GOOD" ON CAMPUS Members continue to become more involved on campus, including Francie Crawford '15, who was selected to be an orientation leader; Allie Rutherford '15, who became the fifth Delta Gamma to be on the student ambassador team; and Alex Silhanek '14, who was voted to be the president of Student Foundation. CHAPTER OFFICERS SEEK INPUT FROM SISTERS The Chapter Management Team is doing everything in its power to make decisions based on the whole chapter's opinions and, so far, has worked selflessly to serve the chapter. We are implementing many chapter-wide surveys and one-on-one meetings with vice presidents to ensure that every voice is heard and every issue is tackled. We want to thank our generous alumnae for your continued support and remind you that you are always welcome—come tour our beautiful new house any time you are in the area! We would love to have you.
