"I was always proud of the way the women were involved in campus activities and how they handled themselves on campus," she said. Amy hopes that active members will continue the legacy of leadership and encourages them to be as involved in campus activities and Delta Gamma as possible. "If you have time to be in an officer position, do that," Amy stated. "It will help you in leadership positions later in life." As an undergraduate member, Amy held the positions of social chairman and as vice president of chapter relations, and she received her bachelor's degree in business administration. Amy has been an adviser for Alpha Upsilon two different times—once in the early '90s and again during the last few years. She now holds the position of House Corporation president, which allows her to keep in close contact with the active members and recent chapter happenings. "The women in the chapter are so smart and studious," she shared. "Every time I am at the house, which is quite often, the actives are always studying!" Although her pledge class scattered after graduation, Amy keeps in touch with DGs in Dallas, whom she met through her work on the advisory team and as a member of the House Corporation. Her fond memories from her time as an active member of Alpha Upsilon, such as the open kitchen for late-night snacking with sisters and living in the house with 33 women for two years, inspire her to stay connected to the chapter. Amy encourages any alumnae who may have lost touch with their sisters to reach out; it's never too late to reconnect and reestablish the bonds of sisterhood. Amy and her husband, Fred, who is also an SMU graduate, have two daughters, ages 24 and 22; their daughter, Hannah Albrecht, Gamma Tau '10, followed in her mother's footsteps and is also a DG! When Amy is not busy running their household, she enjoys traveling, exercising, skiing, and spending as much time with her daughters as she can. If you would like to connect with Amy, she can be reached at amyalbrecht@charter.net.
