On Friday, March 18, Beta Eta sold our existing property to the university and signed our new property land lease. We expect the construction loan will be secured in April and construction will begin this summer. The weekend festivities commenced on Sunday, March 20, when more than 100 Fraters, family, and friends were reunited for the groundbreaking of our new Chapter House. It was a great opportunity to relive fond memories, discuss the campaign, and celebrate the efforts of our generous donors. We decided to extend our fundraising efforts after reaching our initial $1,000,000 goal to maintain, or possibly decrease, the estimated annual room and board per member. This will help TKE remain competitive on campus with other fraternities. Funds collected in this phase of the campaign will also provide adequate furnishings, establish a set amount per year for maintenance, and allow for a financial cushion in the event that the house occupancy is not kept at 90% or pay off the mortgage at an accelerated rate. Class Competition to End July 31 Since announcing the campaign, we decided that a class competition would be an exciting way to add Fraters to our donor list. We are proud to see so many alumni step forward with their gifts, and we are eager for more members to join the momentum. To account for some pledge classes having more members than others, we will be measuring participation in more than just percent participation to award three classes naming rights for the new Chapter House. The awards will be as follows: • Highest number of donors: the fireplace • Most dollars raised: the columns • Highest percent participation: the flagpole Help Beta Eta Reach 30% Participation The undergraduates continue to impress us with their accomplishments on campus and within the Greek community. Last semester, they recruited the largest pledge class seen in 15 years and received multiple honors from the International Fraternity. Knowing that the undergraduates are attempting to do their part to uphold the Teke legacy, it is important that as alumni we continue to do ours. With every home there is an investment, a debt that is created in order to secure a shelter and a legacy for yourself and your family. Fraters, with building a new Chapter House we are doing just that for Tau Kappa Epsilon. We, as alumni, are providing for the younger men of our brotherhood and protecting the history of ourselves and the generations before. You can secure your involvement in this great initiative and class competition by making a gift today by completing and mailing the enclosed pledge form. Please consider making a one-time gift or maximizing your giving ability by structuring a five-year pledge payment. Your support will ensure that the Teke legacy carries on at #3 Fraternity Row for our future brothers at Rolla.
